fantasy premier league news catch up – Wednesday 16 October 2013

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news catch up for Wednesday including WCQs,  Ozil, Gibson, B Davies, Pablo, S Fletcher and Benteke

WCQs and Internationals

Goals from De Bruyne and Ramsey in Wales 1- 1 Belguim
Steven Davis continued some good Southampton performances with a goal for Northern Ireland.  Maybe a £4.8m cheapie option after United game out of way.
Jovetic continued his good form against England with 2 goals in his countries 2-5 loss to Moldova
Nani scored for Portugal against Luxembourg
Snodgrass and Nsismith scored for Scotland against Croatia
Negredo continued his scoring form with a goal in the win over Georgia.  Mata added a 2nd coming on as sub
Performance of the night had to be Schurrles hat trick against Sweden. Could be a punt against Cardiff as at least Oscar could be rested after 2 games in South Korea and China
Aguero was given the night off in the 3-2 loss to Uraguay and allowed to return early for the match at the weekend which means has to be fairly certain  to play on the weekend.   Zabaleta was an unused sub which also enhances his chance of starting.  Suarez scored in that match but such is his importance to the side its unthinkable he wont start.  Especially given the “rest” he had to start the season.

Ozil

Limped off for Germany against Sweden with a knee injury and is now a doubt for the juicy home GW8 fixture home to Norwich. Would hold off buying him until Wengers press conference on Friday as he’s normally fairly forthcoming

Darron Gibson

Injured for Ireland and likely to be out for months. Barkley is so established as CAM I cant see it being a factor in his retention.  Should just mean that McCarthy and Barry are the 2 double pivot midfielders

Ben Davies

The Swansea LB is now in the frame for the GW8 home game against Sunderland despite the original prognosis being that he would be out until GW10. Definitely worth holding and depending on upcoming news may even be worth buying as Swansea, despite defensive limitations, have some really good fixtures coming up

Brady

Another cheapie set to return early against Everton. Those opting for 4-3-3 with at least 2 cheapies to bolster their attack and defence have no shortage of options. Not worth buying for GW8,  as away to Everton isn’t likely to bear any fruit but good news for those who held him while injured

Pablo Hernandez

Apart from Michu probably the next best option for Swansea coverage for their good fixtures although it would take a lot for me to look past Michu. Pablo has shown good returns and good underlying stats so seems the next best option and now looking a good chance for the Sunderland home game in GW8.

Steven Fletcher

A “big possibility” for GW8 according to Poyet. For me this normally means a sub appearance but in any case much better striking options for our fantasy premier league team for him to get a look in

Benteke

Was on the bench as an unused sub for Belgium and trained without a reaction so far.   The Spurs defence isn’t the fixture to take a punt on him returning though so I would hold off.   If you want to dissect more here’s what Lambert said.

“He trained the last couple of days with Belgium and was on the bench which indicates that he felt pretty good,” said Lambert.

“Our medical team spoke to theirs – as you do with every player – and everyone seems to have come back not too bad.

“I don’t know if he’ll be ready for Tottenham. He’ll know himself how he’s feeling. All I know is he was on the bench last night.

“He trained for a couple of days and hadn’t had a reaction, but that might change, I’ll just wait and see.”

That’s it!
