Fantasy premier league news – Di Matteo sacked – what’s the implications?

News

So much for the winning the champions league and therefore qualifying after the start made by AVB last year.  Di Matteo is sacked after the loss to Juventus last night

Here’s the club statement from the Daily Mail:

Chelsea Football Club has parted company this morning with Manager Roberto Di Matteo.
The team’s recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the Board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season.
The club faces a difficult task ahead in qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as well as maintaining a strong challenge for the top of the Premier League while competing in three other cup competitions. Our aim is to remain as competitive as possible and challenge strongly on all fronts.
The owner and the Board would like to thank Roberto for all he has done for the club since taking over in March. Roberto helped guide us to an historic Champions League victory and a seventh FA Cup. We will never forget the huge contribution he has made to this club’s history and he will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge.
The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first team manager.

So what does this mean for fantasy premier league managers

Here’s Chelseas next 6 fixtures

25 Nov 16:00Gameweek 13Man City (H)
28 Nov 19:45Gameweek 14Fulham (H)
01 Dec 12:45Gameweek 15West Ham (A)
08 Dec 15:00Gameweek 16Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 17
23 Dec 16:00Gameweek 18Aston Villa (H)

Fairly mixed including a bye in Game week 17.  2 easy games in Fulham and Villa but 3 tricky ones where scoring could be low.  So there is no compelling underlying need to be buying Chelseas assets at he moment.

Who ever takes over will have to play attractive football  to satisfy the owner which is what surprises me regarding the Benitez rumours so there should be no change there which is good as De Matteo was making statements about being more defensively solid. So I think if anything as long as Benitez doesn’t take over Chelsea should continue to endeavour to play attractive football and score goals.

The dilemma which  will remain unclear is the make up of the defence.  Who will play over Cahill or Luiz when Terry returns or could even Ivanovic play CB and Azpili RB.    That is an unclear situation which will probably not get clearer though but to be honest with those fixtures and Chelseas defence price then why would you be bothered.

I cant see the 3 amigo’s being affected.  Perhaps Oscar is the most vulnerable to Moses if the new manager wants more width.   No one should really be looking at Torres who in my mind will be out the door in January anyway for Falcao (maybe in a swap?)

Anyway I don’t see any need to sell Chelsea assets due to the announcement although I have sold mine due to fixtures anyway.  I dont think any new style unless Benitez joins would prejudice any buying decision.

The weekend will be interesting.
