fantasy premier league news of the day – 13 September 2012

News

Here’s the news of the day for fantasy premier league managers for 13  September 2012 with stories on RVP, Aguero, Diaby, Bartley, WCQ’s and price rises/falls

RVP

Lets face it one story dominates today’s fantasy premier league news.   Fantasy premier league managers who  put Rooney in one week to see him get  injured, will get a sense of deja-vu with RVP now getting injured in the international break.  Here’s what Louis Van Gaal said as quoted in the Daily Mail:

‘We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn’t seem to be too serious, but you never know. We didn’t want to take any risks.’

Thankfully that doesn’t sound too bad in the long term and on the face of it not enough to transfer him out. The same applies to transferring in a Utd striker as again, on the face of it, it the RVP injury should only be a short term situation.  Its a good case for not doing your transfers early though.  It does cause some issues for the captain choice for this week as RVP at home to Wigan was the blindingly obvious choice.  Without RVP the choice becomes very interesting.

Possible options include:

Cazorla/Podolski home to Saints

Hazard away to QPR

Fellaini/Jelavic home to Newcastle

There’s no real Utd alternative unfortunately with Rooney out and doubts over Kagawa.

We’ll keep you updated on the site

Diaby

The injury to Diaby over the international break doesn’t seem too serious.  Howver,   for those fantasy premier league managers looking for a cheaper option in to the Arsenal midfield for the home game to Saints it seems unlikely he will play.   Here’s what Wenger said again as quoted in the Daily Mail

‘He has slight pain on the hip, on the sartorius muscle.

‘It doesn’t seem serious at all to me. He even has a small chance to play on Saturday.’

Although he was fantastic against Liverpool, fantasy premier league managers shouldn’t forget he is a defensive midfielder and too expensive at £6.5m.  Fantasy premier league managers should save their pennies for Cazorla either for the Saints game or after they play City A and Chelsea H.   He will be a huge success in the advanced midfield position and a bonus magnet.

Kyle Bartley

With 21 year old CB Bartley injured for3 months in a training ground incident and  Monk also struggling to be fit  Chico’s CB spot for 3 games seems pretty safe with Alan Tate.  So for anyone looking to get exposure to the Swansea defence in the short term at £4.0m he’s your man.  I wouldn’t recommend this and the games anyway aren’t easy CS options, being Villa A, Everton H and Stoke A.

Aguero

Good news especially for Sun Dream Teamers holding him and fantasy premier league managers looking for an alternative to Tevez.

Man City have published photo’s of him returning to training.

There didn’t seem to be any photos of DM Rodwell trying to nail him with a trademark tackle and it seemed to be stretching running and ball work as you would expect.

City were originally showing a return mid Septembers as have physio room.  Personally I don’t see him returning for the game against Stoke.  I can imagine that the last thing Mancini wants to see is Aguero being chased around the pitch by a manic Andy Wilkinson and his cohorts.

A caption on the website says    “Whether  Stoke is too soon for a return or not remains to be seen.”

WCQ’s and International round up

Heres just a few quick points about games yesterday

*        Kolarov wreaked havoc in the 6-1 win over Wales with a goal and assist.  Defender come striker Ivanovic also scored.  Fantasy premier league managers, like me, with Bale in the team will be cheered up with him scoring.

*        Valencia was sent off against Uraguay.  Hernandez scored the winner against Cost Rica

*        Evans came through unscathed against Luxembourg.

*        Dempsey played 90 minutes, giving him a greater chance of starting  against Reading.   However,  I would be surprised with AVB’s pressing game.

*        Lampard reinforced himself as a penalty taker which should see him retain the duty when playing instead of Hazard

*       Welbeck impressed as a 2nd half sub.  Cleverly probably ruled himself out as the advanced midfielder if Kagawa cant make the Wigan game.

Price rises/falls

Surprisingly no changes on the leading players falls and rises in fantasy premier league.

I probably wont publish news of the day tomorrow as Im away.    I will be putting the line up article on the site late on Friday night.
