Heres the fantasy premier league news of the day for September 17 including Fabio, Andy Johnson,Cuellar, BAE and Torres
Fabio
According to the QPR website Fabio is now off for a “number of weeks”. this probably will seem some game time for Traore who ironically is more expensive than Fabio. The defence looks to be improving as will the fixtures (although the next game is away to Spurs) but at the moment £3.9m Ryan Nelsen who Hughes was full of praise for looks the best option. Ferdinand was also mentioned so we’ll look out for him as well
Andy Johnson
‘Andy Johnson suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Chelsea and is likely to be sidelined for the majority of the season,’ was posted on the QPR official Twitter site.
Cuellar
Cuellar was subbed off in 46 minutes. Heres what O’Neill had to say which isnt that helpful in establishing how long he will be off
“as was Carlos coming off. I’m not sure how bad he is but I thought the best thing to do was take him off when we did.”
Physio room doesnt even have him as injured. Sunderland have reasonably good fixtures in the next 2 with West Ham A and Wigan H. Both of these are potential clean sheets. He is the best value most secure route in with Rose and Gardner cl;assified as midfielders and O’Shea more expensive.
BAE
The Spurs LB is now going to be out for a month with a knee injury. One mans injury is another mans opportunity and fantasy premier league managers with some transfers to burn can look to Naughton at LB at £4.4m. With the following fixtures in that time of QPR H, ManU A, Villa H and Chelsea H theres at least 2 potential clean sheets if you can live with the short term nature of the investment.
Torres
After the game he had you would have though he would have been thanksing RDM for keeping him on so long rather than storming off because he missed the last 10 minutes. RDM despite his relaxed manner wont be bullied in to changing how he acts and heres some words as quoted in the Daily Mail
Fitsly heres him dodging the questions on Torres form ‘No, no, absolutely not. We can’t put too much pressure on one player.
‘We are a team and everybody has responsibility. We’re looking for other players to score goals as well.’
Heres him on Sturridge plus a little Daily mail filler
‘He can maybe play more minutes, for sure.
‘As long as he keeps training well and, when he has the opportunities, shows his qualities, that’s the way forward, and he will get chances to play as well.’
Di Matteo promised that meant more opportunities ‘in the middle’ for the England forward, who has become increasingly frustrated with being played out wide and reportedly came close to being allowed to leave on loan before the transfer window closed.
This may just mean Champs League easy games, Capital one matches and the FA cup but it does send a signal that Torres cant just assume he will play every game. Sturridge was surprisingly good in his 10 minute Cameo.
