fantasy premier league news of the day 21 September 2012

News

Here’s a brief run down of the fantasy premier league news of the day stories including Aguero, A Young, Diarra, Wilkinson, the Europa league and price rises/falls

Diarra

This is only really of concern for Sky Sports fantasy football managers as he has good ass and tackle bonus potential.  Out for at least a few weeks and possibly months.  Here’s Jol as quoted in the Independent

“There is a little piece of cartilage floating in his knee,” Jol said. “If there is damage to his cruciate ligament then it will take a lot longer – three, four, five months at least.”

The likely beneficiary’s are going to be Sidwell and Baird at £5.0m and £4.4m.  Baird is also classified as a defender.  It could also mean a start for £4.8m Karagounis although his fitness will be debate able

Wilkinson

Andy Wilkinson realised the futility of refuting the charge of elbowing Ballotelli and that the defence of Ballotelli’s personality was never going to be enough.  A 3 match ban will give Cameron or Shotton the potential to start at RB.

Ashley Young

Ashley Young has been rules out for 2 to 3 weeks with a bruised cartilage according to SAF.  Good news for Nani and Valencia owners as one less person to compete against

Europa league

Liverpool and Newcastle drew smiles for barclays fantasy premier league managers by putting out a reserve team and sighs of exasperation for those Sun Dream Team managers who selected players for the extra games the competition would bring.  The reverse was the case for Spurs who pretty much put a full team out for the game.  The most significant point was the start for Clint Dempsey.  Anyone game enough to put him as captain against QPR?

Aguero Fit

An unused substitute against Real.  Mancini confirmed he was fit as quoted in Eurosport Asia?

“Sergio is fit,” Mancini told a news conference on Friday. “I wanted to put him on in the Bernabeu but we had a couple of injuries.”

Whether he will start is another matter as we learned from the RVP fiasco last week.  Ballotelli is fit but the form of Dzeko cant be denied at the moment to partner Tevez.

Price rises/falls

Jaask joined Berba in the GW5 £0.2m price rise club.  You have to give him a reasonable chance of a clean sheet at home to Sunderland assuming someone can keep Fletcher quiet.

Interestingly no one fell £0.2m although I expect this to change tomorrow morning.  a raft of players fell £0.1m

Next up will be the line up article and a feature on this weeks captain choice
