Here’s the fantasy premier league news shorts of the day including Coloccini, Demel, Michu, Newcastle new transfers and price rises/falls

  • Coloccini  – San Lorenzo pull out of the  race for the Newcastle captain heightening the chances of him staying at Newcastle and with S Taylor back fit reducing cheapie Williamsons chances of starting.  The situation if further complicated by the new signing Newcastle have made at CB in Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (see below) but all this is irrelevant in my mind as Newcastle just aren’t worth backing defensively
  • Demel signs a new contract £4.0m cheapie Demel signs a new contract to 2014.  A good show of faith in the RB who has been vulnerable with some dodgy performances and it looked at one stage that Tomkins may take his place at RB.  That test will come again as in theory Collins was supposed to start again which would have tested Demels position but this is certainly a step in the right direction for me.
  • Michu signs new contract – not really any effect on Fantasy premier league  but worth noting as at least it rules out any sale in the transfer window which may upset  our fantasy premier league team.
  • Newcastle transfer – Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa French international CB. 186 games for Montpellier, the French champions with 4 goals plus 1 assist. 8 games for France U21 and 3 for the full side. Strong in the air at 1.84m should rectify some of the issues Newcastle have had in the air this season.  With S taylor back from injury and both Colocinni and Williamson off form this year I can see him going straight in to the team.  No price in fantasy premier league yet but I still maintain the Newcastle defence isn’t worth investing in at the moment.
  • Newcastle transfer 2 – Yoan Gouffran French 26 year old striker. In 66 starts and 10 as sub he’s scored 24 goals and 4 assists in the last 3 seasons for Bordeaux in French League 1.  Hard to see whether he will start or not but given Pardew has played 4-4 -2 and 4-3-3  could see him playing either alongside or on the flank with Cisse.  Given Newcastles current plight he should be keenly priced compared to Cisse at £8.8m.  Newcastle have a strong fixture schedule starting with Villa away and depending on the price maybe worth a cheeky punt

Federici RDG 4.4
Mignolet SUN 5.3

Davies SWA 4.3
Sagna ARS 5.2
O’Brien WHU 4.6

Walcott ARS 9.4
De Guzman SWA 5.8

Lukaku WBA 6.6
Dzeko MCI 7.5
Pogrebnyak RDG 4.4

Federici and Mignolet are the surprising ones.  There are far cheaper options in the defence than them and Mignolet is only slightly cheaper than Gibbs and De Gea who are both much better buys.  Sagna is a little surprising given his poor performance on the weekend although in the context of Arsenal he is cheap. O’Brien looks dear compared to Demel although with injuries he is certain of his place compared to Demel who has competition from Tomkins when Collins is back.
