fantasy premier league news update – Sunday 11 August 2013 incl Sturridge, Rafael, Remy & Fellaini

News, Preseason

Here’s Sundays  fantasy premier league news update for you including Sturridge, Rafael, Remy and Fellaini plus more importantly the implications for your fantasy premier league team.  I’ll be rounding up the remaining friendlies after this post

Daniel Sturridge

He thinks he’s fit and ready to start for GW1.  Liverpool with a kind run of fixtures  are a good bet for coverage within our fantasy premier league teams.  At the same price Coutinho and Sturridge are the 2 principle attacking options.  Sterling if selected the cheaper option.  At the moment my thoughts are with Coutinho as having more of an all round game but that isnt by much and may depemd on how my squad looks and other options in midfield or attack.  Either of the 2 will fit well.  Here’s Sturridge sounding very pleased with himself

“I’m fit and good to go. If I’m selected against Stoke then I’ll be ready. I didn’t think I’d be as sharp as I was, to be honest, so I’m happy! I would have loved to have scored and marked my return with a goal, but the important thing was to leave the pitch healthy with no injury or anything.”

Rafael De Silva

Out 4 to 5 weeks apparetly according to the  Rafael himself.  I’d like to say that I could tell you who will take his place but ufortunately I can’t.  It could be Smalling (£5.5m), Jones (£6.0m) or the best case Fabio (£4.5m).  There really isnt any value in the defence or a predicatable line up.  That coupled with a difficult start is why I’m staying away for the moment unless you go for De Gea who’s ok value at £6.0m.

Darron Gibson

Here’s the twiter feed of Everton yesterday

Martinez also confirms Darron Gibson has sustained a grade one ligament problem that will be assessed in the next 48 hours.

Not sure what the scale of gade 1 means but gibson being a CDM has no impact on our squad.  It could mean Heitinga playing CDM although I’d still go for Coleman.  The best outcome is that Osman drops back allowing £4.5m mid Barkley to move into the squad.

We’ll keep you posted

Fellaini

Nothing to be read into him issing the friendly according to Martinez which is pretty self explanatory

“Marouane would have been available if it was a competitive game.

“He picked up a cut on the US tour. Bearing in mind he has to join the Belgium squad now – and in two days the infection will clear – I didn’t want to risk hurting him.”

Loic Remy

Won’t make GW1 according to the manager emphatically to Sky Sports.

“There is no chance of him making Man City. Whether there is a chance of him playing against West Ham in the next game is something we will have to suck and see as we go along.”

“It’s just a strain, but it’s an area that is stopping him from running at the moment,” Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle. “We need to get some work into him.

Thats it, a reasonably quiet day.  Next its on to finish the friendlies.  The plan after that is too assess how the line ups will look and then on to the best players in each format
