Mkhitaryan

Anyone who last season got 23 goals and 32 assists and was Bundesliga player of the year and not playing for Bayern has to be treated with respect.  48% of the FFGeek readers have him in their GW1 team and certainly I’ll be joining them.  Also has good fixtures to start

First 6 fixtures:

Bournemouth (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)

Payet

Sensational last year and sensational in the Euro’s it’s no surprise where he is in the poll.  However playing in the Euro final may mean that he won’t be fit for GW1.  It certainly needs monitoring.  Great set piece delivery and his positioning in the West Ham counter attack has seen him be in the right place at the right time to score too.  Fixtures could be better and will he be fit are the questions.

Chelsea (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man City (A)
Watford (H)
West Brom (A)
Southampton (H)

De Bruyne

After Aguero probably the safest bet in the Man City attacking team.  It’s just whether you want both in your team as I imagine Aguero will take precedent.  Good fixtures

Sunderland (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Man Utd (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Swansea (A)

Mahrez

An incredible season last season and rested over the summer.  It’s just the new price and whether he can repeat it again.  Ownership may dictate my strategy.  Fixtures are a bizarre mix of easy and difficult

Hull (A)
Arsenal (H)
Swansea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Burnley (H)
Man Utd (A)

Hazard

With a new manager who may come with a defensive mindset and pretty horrible form for 90% of the season.  You’re relying on history of previous seasons and a strong finish to the season plus a good Euro’s to put your faith in.

West Ham (H)
Watford (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)

A Ayew

Not the most consistent player last season and this season is about whether he will be playing striker but classified as a midfielder

Burnley (A)
Hull (H)
Leicester (A)
Chelsea (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)

Ozil

The main set piece taker in the Arsenal team and last year very consistent.  Like Payet though it’s questionable whether he will be fit for GW1 especially as Wenger has made alot of statements about ensuring the players need rest

Liverpool (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Chelsea (H)

Eriksen

Rested over the summer and the main set piece taker for Spurs he’s a reasonable prospect for next season

Everton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Middlesbrough (A)

Feghouli

The new West Ham right winger looked good for most of the game in the Europa League tie the other night.  His stats from last season with Valencia were poorer than previous seasons so they can be seen as an outlier

Chelsea (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man City (A)
Watford (H)
West Brom (A)
Southampton (H)

Townsend

At least with Townsend you’ll never be wishing he didn’t shoot.  A good finish to last season with Newcastle and some good fixtures with Palace to start with are the attractions

West Brom (H)
Spurs (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)
