FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE POTENTIAL LINEUPS FOR GW1 – Man Utd to Sunderland

Fantasy Premier League, Preseason

Here’s the 3rd of our fantasy premier league potential lineups for GW1. We’ve already done Arsenal to Crystal Palace in alphabetical order and Everton to Man City so on we go. We give you where we think the potential lineups are at the moment and give some comments on player options. We’ve also added in their first 6 fixtures. This will help you design your GW1 team.

So here are the potential lineups with gaps where there is uncertainty. Things do change quickly especially as there’s alot of games this weekend so we’ll keep refreshing them.

Man Utd

Alot of gaps.  I’m hoping the preseason game on Sunday starts plugging those.  One of the DMs will be filled assuming Pogba joins but he will be box to box next to a sitting DM

It’s worth remembering that Smalling will be a CB but he’s suspended for GW1 and has a groin strain with no return date at present.  Shaw and De Gea at £5.5m are the routes into defence at the moment.  Mkhitaryan £9.5m and Ibrahimovic at £11.5m are the best routes in for me to the attack

Hull (A)
Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)

Middlesbrough

A newly promoted team with alot of transfers are always the trickiest.  CB Ayala if fit will start but £4.5m LB Friend is the best defensive bet for me and Fischer at £5.5m or maybe Negredo at £6.5m if you’re feeling especially in a risk taking mode

Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)

Southampton

Another tricky one with a new manager.  Portugal players Fonte and Soares seem unlikely to start GW1.  Other Euro doubtfuls are Long, Forster, Bertrand and Davis.

There’s enough in pre-season to suggest 2 strikers but that would be the rarity in the premier league and needs monitoring.

Austin at £6.5m and Tadic at £7.5m are the attacking options for me.  The defence is massively overvalued due to the unbelievable job Koeman did last season

Watford (H)
Man Utd (A)
Sunderland (H)
Arsenal (A)
Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)

Spurs

Alot of Euro risk around the lineup with a very second string team lining up in pre-season at the moment.  Wanyama, Lamela and Eriksen are the only players of those above who participated in the most recent friendly although that was in Australia.  So everyone else is subject to monitoring.  Vertonghen could be back for GW2 apparently so Wimmer may only be a short term fix.  I can’t see Lloris starting.

All the front 4 for me are options.  Kane and Alli, last seasons form but Eriksen for freshness and Lamela for preseason form.

Everton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Middlesbrough (A)

Sunderland

A new manager again makes this difficult to predict.  Defoe is currently injured but is expected to be fir for GW1.  Khazri at £6.5m and Defoe £7.0m in any case are the Sunderland options although both seem a little pricey to me.

In defence Van Aanholt is injured with no return date although this doesn’t show up on the FPL site.  Defence needs more monitoring now Yedlin has left and whether Kirchoff will play CB or CDM under Moyes.

Man City (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Stoke

One of the teams more settled in pre-season.  Bojan looks an option as a £6.0m midfielder as does Arnautovic at £7.5m although hes more expensive.  Pieters in defence at £4.5m looks the cheap option but there’s so many defenders that it needs monitoring.

Middlesbrough (A)
Man City (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Brom (H)
