fantasy premier league pre-season and GW1 possible lineups – part 1 Arsenal to Huddersfield

Fantasy Premier League, Preseason

Here’s our first fantasy premier league pre-season article where we look at each team in turn over pre-season to establish a possible GW1 lineup as well as form players plus tracking individual players of interest as well as the world cup returners

fantasy premier league pre-season and GW1 possible lineups – part 1 Arsenal to Huddersfield

Here we will go over each team in turn and review it regularly to establish

a possible GW1 lineup

track players of interest

track world cup returners (see our earlier article)

establish form players (as I write this too soon to establish as pre-season games have often been against lower opposition)

injured players

I’ve also done 2 articles on new players to FPL

Arsenal to Leicester

Man City to Watford

Arsenal

Injuries:  Koscielny out long term

World Cup returners.

Monreal – RO16
Lichtsteiner – RO16
Özil – GRP
Xhaka – RO16
Iwobi – GRP
Elneny – GRP
Welbeck – SEMI

I would expect all to be fit for GW1 except Welbeck.

Whoever is GK out of Cech and Leno will be good value at £5.0m as would Kolasinac at £5.0m in defence.  Other than that the only issue is £7.0m mid Mkhitaryan or £9.5m fwd Lacazette and the effect on £11.0m fwd Aubameyang’s position if Emery plays 4-3-3.  If he plays 4-2-3-1 then Xhaka could make way for both in the AM position.

£8.5m mid set piece man Ozil is a great price

Bournemouth

No World Cup returners

Junior Stanislas looks an injury doubt for GW1

Daniels as a £4.5m wing back and maybe the form of £6.0m Fwd Wilson and £6.5m Fwd King would be of interest.  £5.5m mid Ibe is also a player I like if he can get in the team without being rotated every 5 minutes.

Brighton

CB Duffy, Murray, Steele and Andone are all doubts to start GW1

I expect all World Cup returners below to play

Ryan – GRP
Balogun – GRP
Izquierdo – RO16

The defence is going to be a bit difficult with the arrival of £4.5m def Balogun and the general uncertainty of the FBs.  £4.5m Ryan should be the banker at GK.

Will Hughton continue with £6.5m fwd Murray?  He can finish and could have pens so worth monitoring

Burnley

Brady, Defour, Barnes and Lowton all have some injury doubt against them

World Cup returners

Pope – SEMI
Gudmundsson – RO16

Who will be the main set piece midfielder between £5.5m mid Brady and £6.0m mid Gudmundsson and will both play will be crucial.

I’m assuming even though £5.0m GK Pope didn’t play in the World Cup that he will still be due time off as he would have been training but that needs to be tracked as who will start out of him and £5.0m GK Heaton will be interesting.

Otherwise £6.5m Fwd Wood is probably the main point of interest

Cardiff

See our key players for promoted teams article

No world cup returners and no significant injuries

We’ll be looking at £4.0m RB Peltier to see if he can hold his place.

Gunnarson looks a possible £4.5m bench midfielder

£5.5m mid Hoilett and £5.5m fwd Reid have cheapie potential

Chelsea

World Cup returners.

Courtois – SEMI
Caballero – RO16
Azpilicueta – RO16
Moses – GRP
Rüdiger – GRP
Christensen – RO16
Cahill – SEMI
Hazard – SEMI
Willian – QTR
Kanté – SEMI
Giroud – SEMI

Loftus Cheek – SEMI

All those qtrs and past I don’t expect to start GW1

Emerson appears to be an injury doubt

So many questions with a new manager.  Who will play in the front 3.  Will £6.5m def Alonso be favoured over £5.5m def Emerson if fit. Zappacosta, Emerson and Christensen all offer £5.5m routes into the defence.

Can £9.0m forward Morata hold his place?

There will be a Community shield match that should shed some light on the situation.

Crystal Palace

The only World Cup returner is Milivojevic – GRP who should be ready to lineup in GW1

Dann def  and Sako the mid are the injury doubts

In defence Wan-Bissaka as a £4.0m option is worth watching.  £4.5m Tomkins is the safe def option.  £5.5m Van Aanholt the attacking option

£7.0m Fwd Zaha’s position as a striker rather than any suggestion he will play out wide needs monitoring.

Everton

Injury doubts to Mangala, McCarthy, Calvert Lewin and Williams

Pickford – SEMI
Sigurdsson – GRP
Gueye – GRP

Difficult to assess the lineup with a new manager

£7.5m set piece Mid Sigurdsson, £6.5m Mid Walcott and £7.0m fwd Tosun are the main options to monitor.  In defence it’s just whether a £4.5m option in Williams, Holgate or Jagielka becomes available.  Who gets Penalties will be crucial

Fulham

See our key players for promoted teams article

No known injury issues.

No World Cup returners

The obvious place to start is £6.5m wonderkid Sessegnon as long as he stays as a  mid.  If they sign fwd Mitrovic after his loan spell last season then he becomes an option for them.

In defence £4.5m Ream and £4.5m GK Betenelli are the safe options

Huddersfield

Injury issues.  Kongolo, Bacuna, Schindler and Van La Parra are all doubts

World Cup returners:

Mooy – GRP
Zanka – RO16

£4.5m GK Lossl and  £4.5m Def Hadergjonaj are probably my favourite defenders.

Apart from that only really £6.0m Mounie for me.

I am a fan of £5.0m mid Ince but whether he can get in the team and convert the chances he makes is the big question.  £5.0m mid Pritchard also has cheapie potential if he can stake his claim for the CAM position.

Obviously if you have any comments about my assumptions leave them below.
