you can see Saturdays games here btw

Burnley 0 Espanyol 2

This was a 2nd string team and Burnley have been pretty much established through the Europa League qualifiers so I’m not going to bore you with it

Chelsea 0 Man City 2

Chelsea (4-3-3): Caballero; Azpilicueta (c), David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Fabregas (Drinkwater 59), Jorginho, Barkley; Pedro (Moses 79), Morata (Abraham 69), Hudson-Odoi (Willian 59).
Unused subs Bulka, Christensen, Zappacosta.

Manchester City (4-3-3): Bravo; Walker, Stones (Gomes 90+5), Laporte (Otamendi 87), Mendy; Fernandinho (c), B Silva, Foden (Diaz 76); Sane (Gundogan h/t), Aguero (Kompany 80), Mahrez (Jesus 68).
Unused subs Ederson.
Scorer Aguero 13, 58

Chelsea

Chelsea lined up in their expected 4-3-3 and we got the £5.5m defender David Luiz starting which hopefully nails him for GW1 even if he was terrible here.  The rest of the team was predictable but offers little as Hudson-Odoi will be replaced by Hazard and Pedro could easily be replaced by Willian.  Even Morata could be replaced by Giroud on his return so it’s hard to take anything from this for your FPL team.  None of them did themselves any favours from this appearance in any case.

Man City

Man City lined up in a back 4 which was a bit disappointing as it meant a lone striker was going to be the result.  Mendy started which was good as did Aguero.  No David Silva and no explanation I’ve been able to find.  No Otamendi either and surprisingly Stones and Walker and Fernandinho did start.  Sane started which was also interesting after the Pep criticism recently.

In simple terms I thought Sane was pretty ordinary and no surprise he was subbed, Mahrez reasonable lively and Aguero fantastic.  Bernardo gave his best impression of his namesake David but doesn’t get into the box like David Silva did last season.  Aguero was fantastic.  Mendy’s ability to play 90 minutes and get forward like he did was pretty astonishing.  He defended well although Pedro was poor.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this was the team for GW1 with Ederson coming in for Bravo, Otamendi and who knows as the other CB and David Silva in for Foden assuming there’s no issue with him.

If you believe Pep then Bernardo is nailed at least for GW1 although longer term I can’t see it.  Here’s what Pep said afterwards

“Right now it’s Bernardo and 10 more. Today his performance was a masterpiece.”

Bayern 1 Man Utd 0

Here’s how United lined up:

United: De Gea (Grant 79), Darmian (Jones 65), Bailly (Smalling 46), Lindelof (Tuanzebe 79), Shaw (Mitchell 79), Fred (Chong 79), A. Pereira, Herrera (Garner (81), Mata (McTominay 65), Alexis, Rashford (Fosu-Mensah 65).
Sub not used: Greenwood.

A 13 to 1 shot count and Bayern with 72% possession says it all.  It was a game of attack vs defence.  Shaw came out poorly which wasn’t helpful but Lindelof came out well as did Bailly before his injury, which doesn’t seem serious apparently.  Ignore any attacking information given the stats above.

I can see this being a GW1 lineup with Valencia ruled out through injury.  The only other change could be Lukaku in for Rashford if he’s fit enough.  I can’t see Martial being involved
