Fantasy premier league Q and A – 5/11/2013

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s a selection of fantasy premier league questions and my answers on the site which I hope you will find interesting.

Alot of topics I covered in more detail on my fantasy premier league bandwagons and analysing the GW10 top scorers so I’ve put links at the bottom of the page for them

Q1

In my local fantasy league, RVP isn’t much more expensive. Given much less emphasis on price, would you go for RVP or Rooney? Not sure if Rooney is better fantasy football player now irregardless of price.
Ramsey is looking even better than Ozil (again much less emphasis on price)?

Am in top 1% so got chance to win it, though early days yet.

A1

Interesting league. I would stick with RVP. He plays as the more advanced striker and has been getting far more shots in the box than Rooney. In addition to that he also has pen duties. Rooney has been more consistent so far this year and RVP still has to start creating chances but I think he will come through with more points
I’d like to say Ozil given how world class he is but I just cant go against Ramsey at the moment. Everytime I think there’s no logic to it and his returns have to stop he produces again

Q2

Hey guys i am new to fantasy football i just want to know how many points should i get each gameweek aproximately to be considered on the right track.. This week i got 75 points is it good?

A2

Ha Ha , I’m trying to work out if this is some sort of prank taunting comment? Yes 75 is a good score for this gameweek. Generally you can tell how well you do by the movement in your overall position and by your rank within the fantasy premier league gameweek

Q3

I took a 4 point hit this week getting rid of Giroud for Suarez and I also signed Lallana for Michu as Michu doesn’t seem the same player as last season and just keep’s dropping in value.

A3

In retrospect this doesn’t seem to be a question. Mad as it seems to get rid of Giroud it does make sense as Arsenal are one of the few clubs with decent midfield representation in comparison to the forward options. Ozil Ramsey and Walcott to return plus Cazorla who has just come back. So it makes some sense not to have an Arsenal player in the precious forward position

I’m a little dubious about Lallana as although he plays in an advanced position and can score and assist he very rarely does it and is fairly inconsistent. So far this season he has returned in 4 games of 10. Also a few hard fixtures after the Hull home game are on the Horizon including Arsenal and Chelsea away. Personally I would go for one of the cheapies and invest in defence and forwards although its a bit hard without knowing the rest of your team

Q4

Replacing either Oscar or Hazard with a new midfielder. Which of these two should I get rid of? i have to do it so that i can afford Suarez

A4

Tricky one this that I wrestle with every fantasy premier league gameweek. On the one hand you have oscar who has the number 10 position but doesnt produce much in the way of underlying stats but has reasonable if inconsistent returns to date. On the otehr hand you have Hazard who had a great year last year and has reasonable underlying stats but just fails to return at all. I probably would get rid of Oscar but its an extremely close call as I like to think the stats and last year will come through at some stage of for Hazard

Q5

I’m thinking of taking a 4 point hit next week by taking out Giroud for Suarez and Michu for Townsend leaving me with £1.7million in the bank. What do you think?

A5

As I said above I understand the Giroud to Suarez thing . I also understand the Michu transfer given its 5 games without a return and the injury, which will at least see him miss the Stoke game but I think there are better cheapie options than Townsend such as Januzaj and R Morrison.

Q6

I’m a little nervous of Lukaku when I’m thinking about bringing him in as they have Palace next, is the injury slight? Will he play at Palace or just be rested into the international break???

A6

This is a Sky question. The sound of the injury and the words from Martinez suggests he will be back for GW11 and given his stats and production this year I think he’s still a good bet for that game.

Q7

I have Michu in my side so i’m going to transfer him out, who would you recommend as a good player to change him for? What do u think of my starting 11:

A7

Silva would definitely be my number 1 choice midfielder in fantasy premier league

Q8

Boruc
Fonte Coleman rat dawson
Silva ozil ramsey
Benteke suarez (cpt) aguero
Morrison barkley chico
I thinking of morrison for ozil or ramsey
your thoughts?

A8

Hi not sure I understand your question totally but if your’e asking whether you should put Morrison in the starting line p rather than Ozil or Ramsey then I definitely wouldn’t.  Arsenal  have the potential to score in every game.  So far this year they have not been scoreless and on 7/10 occasions have scored more than once,  so definitely keep the Arsenal players in.  Also remember Stoke scored twice against United and should have scored more so Utd’s defence isn’t wha it should be.  If you’re talking about transfers I like your team and to me there’s not much thats needed to change it. I was a little confused about your comment of changing Ozil or Ramsey for Morrison as you have Morrison in your line up. Is this a James or Ravel confusion thing or was your question solely directed to your line up? Assuming Ravel is in your team I would more likely look to change Barkley although you might want to leave it until after the Palace game.  Barkley lost his place but I think it maybe temporary. It just depends on when you bought him and your selling price and whether options such as Januzaj are better value.

I would probably leave Ozil. You may want to take a punt on Hazard or Oscar over the next few games but personally I would stick with him.  I wouldnt change Ramsey.  Way too scary an option at the moment.  Hope that all made sense from my side.
