Fantasy premier league and Sun Dream Team – some more late and deadline day transfer thoughts

Fantasy Premier League, Sun Dream Team

Here’s a somewhat belated look at some of the late and deadline day transfers and their prospects.  I’ve done it for fanatsy premier league and Sun Dream Team.  I’ve looked at them  by team and concentrated on players who transfered after the weekends games so we’ve yet to see them play.

Fantasy premier league and Sun Dream Team – some more late and deadline day transfer thoughts

I’ll start with the Europa League and the Champions league teams.  You may have already seen my recent article on Falcao and Welbeck so although they were based on FPL I won’t repeat them

Tottenham

Benjamin Stambouli (Montpellier – Tottenham) – Midfielder:  FPL £5.0m.   Sun Dream Team £2.5m

24yo CDM 13/14, 40 apps, 3 goals and 1 assist plus 6 YCs.  14 total International caps for France U21

Federico Fazio (Sevilla – Tottenham) – Defender:  FPL £5.5m, Sun Dream Team £4.0m

27yo CB 13/14, 41 apps, 3 goals and 2 assists plus 12 YCs.  2 Total International caps for Argentina

Summary

Can’t see really any value in Stambouli given his goal record and position in either format.

Fazio is a different story.  Kaboul’s place could definitely be under threat but it’s likely with the volume of CBs that there will be rotation for the Europa League at least.  Hard to see Vertonghen losing his place.

Everton

David Henen is an 18 yo Belgian CF who’s not in FPL or Sun Dream Team and on loan from Olympiakos

Other teams:

Man Utd

Falcao already done in previous article for FPL only

Marcos Rojo  Defender  FPL £6.0m  Sun Dream Team £4.0m (Sporting Lisbon to Man Utd)

24yo CB 13/14, 28 apps, 6 goals and 0 assist plus 11 YCs.  3 RCs.  29 total International caps for Argentina

Daley Blind  midfield FPL £4.0m  Defender Sun Dream Team £3.5m (Ajax to Man Utd)

24yo DM 13/14, 45 apps, 1 goals and 1 assist plus 8 YCs. 20 total International caps for Holland

Rojo should defenitely start and is not badly priced in Sun Dream Team.   He’s cheaper than Jones, the same as Evans and more expensive than Smalling.  United continue to have reasonable fixtures but the defence looks anything but solid at the moment.  He’s quite expensive though at £6.0m in FPL.  There’s no certainty that LVG will continue with a back 3 so Jones and Rojo are the likely pair if he does. For Sun Dream Team the main drawback is that Man Utd aren’t in Europe and out of the League Cup  so there’s little in the way of extra games.

Hull

Steve Bruce obviously thinks they’re still in Europe given the number of transfers undertaken.

Abel Hernandez  Striker FPL £7.0m  Sun Dream Team £3.0m (Palermo to Hull)

24yo CF 13/14, 30 apps, 14 goals and 3 assist plus 6 YCs.  14 total International caps for Uruguay

Diame  Mid  FPL £5.4m Sun Dream Team £2.5m (West Ham to Hull)  13/14,  4 goals and 3 assists at a point every 25 FPL minutes

Ramirez Mid FPL £5.5m Sun Dream Team £2.0m (Southampton to Hull) 13/14, 1 goal and 3 assists at a point every 15 FPL minutes

Ben Arfa   Mid FPL £5.8m Sun Dream Team £2.0m (Newcastle to Hull) 13/14, 3 goals and 6 assists at a point every 16.8 FPL minutes

As far as the 3 mids are concerned, from a Sun Dream Team perspective with all the midfielders it’s impossible to pick someone who you can guarantee will start especially without the bonus of extra games in the Europa.  Both Ben Arfa and Ramirez have potential and actually very good returns per minute its just gametime risk.  West Ham at home and Newcastle away isn’t a bad place to take a risk on though but it’s a big leap of faith.

As for Hernandez, the record for instant sucess for non top 4 challenging team strikers wasn’t great last season.  At least as a record signing it’s difficult not to see him starting.  It’s debateable whether he’s worth £1m more in FPL and the same in Sun Dream Team  than Jelavic who for all his flaws is at least a known quantity.

Southampton

Toby Alderweireld Defender FPL £5.0m  Sun Dream Team £2.5m (A Madrid to Southampton)

25yo CB 13/14, 27 apps, 2 goals and 0 assist plus 1 YC.  37 total International caps for Belguim

Sadio Mane  midfield  FPL £7.0m  Sun Dream Team £2.0m (Salzburg to Southampton)

22yo LW 13/14, 53 apps, 23 goals and 18 assist plus 9 YCS. 15 total International caps for Senegal

Despite playing RB for Belguim Alderweireld actually was a CB for A Madrid and I expect him to take the place of FPL cheapie Yoshida for Southampton.  At £5.0m Clyne seems the better FPL attacking defensive option to me.  He’s alot cheaper though in Sun Dream Team than both Fonte and Clyne who are £3.0m.  Whether you want to gamble on the Saints defence in Sun Dream Team is another question

Mane has an incredible record last season in the Austrian League but the league has to be recognised for what it is and makes him a gamble especially at £7.0m.  Tadic at £2.5m in Sun Dream Team looks better value to me

That’s it.  I could stay up all night but these are some of the more interesting transfers
