fantasy premier league team – a few adjustments to the FFGeek team

Changes

Ben Davies (£5.5m Spurs def) out Trippier in (£5.5m Spurs def)

Kyle Walker transferring to Man City is a great example of how transfers in pre-season can benefit your fantasy premier league team.  I think, as our resident Spurs fan contributor Joseph Crilley says in his article on Spurs’ prospects, that Trippier may have become first choice anyway but nonetheless this gave it more certainty.   There is rumours of another right back being purchased but hard to see Trippier not starting GW1.

Tomkins (£4.5m C Palace def) out Prodl in (£4.5m Watford def)

With Palace having signed a CB from Ajax in Riedewald and Bruno Martins Indi roumoured to join the prospects of £4.5m Tomkins or £4.5m Kelly starting at CB look fairly remote.  So while they’re on my watch list I’ve  taken them out for the moment and put Prodl of Watford in.  Burnley/ Palace was my favourite rotation from my 2 team rotation article.  Unfortunately prices haven’t been kind in the effort to find £4.5m defenders so I’ve reverted to this as the best for the moment.  My defender player rankings article may help you pick defenders for your team

Pedro out (£8.0m Chelsea mid) Willian in (£7.0m Chelsea mid)

Willian is likely to benefit from Hazards injury to get into the team in the 2 of 3-4-2-1 that Chelsea play.  He’s great value for that position and should have a share of set pieces.  Pedro has more longevity but the price and set pieces attracted me to Willian

Zaha out (£7.0m C Palace mid) Sane in (£8.5m Man City mid)

This was a choice between tweaking the GKs and putting Coutinho in and putting Sane in.  I still may do this but in the end I stuck with Sane.  As David said in his Man City prospects article City play with 3 forwards for all intents and purposes.  Sane showed great form and solid gametime last season.

Aguero out (£11.5m Man City forward) Lacazette in (£10.5m Arsenal forward)

This was partly due to having a captain option in GW4 where only Arsenal have a great fixture and the options Aguero left me in the midfield.  Lacazette is an unknown quantity and sometimes forwards new to the premier league have struggled.  However at the higher end of the table there have been immediate successes.

Structure

Despite the lineup for GW1 the intention is to play 4-3-3.  The first 2 fixtures for the defenders forced Loftus-Cheek into the team

I’ve got a core of 5 players.  3 premium forwards and 2 premium defenders.  Willian is value created through an injury and is also in the best value players category in my article on the subject.

Redmond is a fixture pick.  Southampton have the best early fixtures in our fixture ease article.  Sane is a bit of an anomaly but there for City cover and as he will be playing in a front 3 for all intents and purposes.

Lastly there are 2 rotating GKs and defenders all £4.5m

My only concern is that my 3 captain options involve some risk.  Lukaku is going to a new team.  Lacazette a new team and league.  Kane a new home ground

Captain planning

I prefer to plan my captains ahead otherwise you have to either take hits to get a decent option or just not improve all parts of your team.  I’ve done an article on captain planning  where I go through the best captain options in the first 10 game weeks.  You may find it useful.

Here’s how it looks with the above team:

GW1 – Lukaku  – West Ham H

GW2 – Lukau –  Swansea A

GW3 – Kane – Burnley H

GW4 – Lacazette – Bournemouth H

GW5 – Kane – Swansea H

GW6 – LacazettE – WBA H

GW7 – Kane  – Huddersfield A

GW8 – Kane – Bournemouth H

GW9 – Lukaku – Huddersfield A

GW10 – Lacazette – Swansea H

Anyway still plenty of time to change.  I’ll update my team fairly regularly as I’m sure I’ll be adjusting it.
