FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM FOCUS MANCHESTER CITY

Fantasy Premier League

With Man City springing the surprise potential double gameweek in GW27 I thought it was a good time to do a team focus on them.  We look at the key players, gametime issues, their stats and their future fixtures to help you for your potential upcoming transfers

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM FOCUS MANCHESTER CITY

You may have seen that I just did a focus on the potential double gameweek raised by Man Citys fixture announcement.  I wont repeat all that but here’s the link

MANCHESTER  CITY COMPETITION FOCUS

Manchester City are outside competitors for the title but such is the number of teams competing for places 1-4 that they can’t even guarantee a Champions League place so there can’t be any slacking off or over rotation in the PL.  They are still in the FA Cup and assuming they beat Huddersfield will have a tricky away FA Cup tie at Middlesborough.  If they get through the Champions League tie at Monaco they will need the full strength team for the quarters and onwards.  So a lot of competitions with only the FA Cup that is significantly rotatable

TEAM LINEUPS

Lets look at the 21 Feb Monaco H lineup which has to be the first team

v Bournemouth A GW25

v Swansea H GW24

In contrast the Huddersfield FA Cup team

Here’s the pass and position map from the Monaco game

Who is gametime secure?

The following players played all 3 games or is secure through other means and their position:

£12.7m Fwd Aguero (CF) played 75 mins after the Jesus injury at Bournemouth and is now secure.

£7.8m Mid Sterling (RAM),

£7.5m Mid Sane (LAM),

£10.6m Mid De Bruyne (CM)

£8.6m Mid Silva (CM)

£4.7m Mid Stones (CB)

£4.7m GK Caballero

I haven’t included Yaya as despite having pens and some direct free kicks I think he’s too deep to be considered

STATS

Penalty taker is Yaya Toure and set pieces are divided between Silva and De Bruyne.  Yaya has some direct free kick responsibility

Here’s the underlying stats for the 5 players from the excellent site squawka:

Aguero is a no brainer with Jesus injured and Iheanacho not even in the team for the FA Cup game.

Of the midfielders given unlimited funds I would probably go for De Bruyne as he’s more central and with set pieces and assists has more chances for returns.  However the difference in price between him and Sterling for me makes it hard to look past Sterling.

FUTURE FIXTURES

Here’s the next 6 fixtures assuming Man City beat Huddersfield in the FA Cup replay on the 1st March.

GW26 – Blank
DGW27 – Sunderland (A)
DGW27 – Stoke (H)
GW28 – Blank
GW29 – Liverpool (H)
GW30 – Arsenal (A)
GW31 – Chelsea (A)

So a good DGW but hard fixtures apart from that.  City have the ability to score against anyone though

SUMMARY

So assuming City win the FA Cup replay against Huddersfield Aguero will be a good DGW captain candidate.  Otherwise the 2 blanks limits the choice.  If you have cash and the team set up I still believe De Bruyne would be the best choice although Sterling is great value in comparison.

Stones is great value in defence.

FFGEEK CHOICE

I’ve already got Aguero so that will probably be it given that I have issues filling the team for GW26
