fantasy premier league – Team “under the radar” for DGW31

Fantasy Premier League

If you’re looking for some differentials here’s a team for fantasy premier league DGW31 with everyone in it having 10% ownership or less.

Firstly I’m not seriously saying this should be your team it’s just a collection of individuals with low ownership to give you ideas that  are a little bit different.  They are low ownership for a reason and therefore all come with risk.   In the article I’ll try and explain why the low ownership and the risks accocaited with it and why this maybe a time that there fortunes could turn

Here’s the team with a few words underneath

gw30underradar

Krul £5.1m (5% ownership)

The Newcastle defence has attracted little attention this year due to a few high profile thrashings including 10 goals conceded in 3 games recently.  However they do have a reasonable overall defence with 8 clean sheets this season.  It’s evenly balanced home and awaythough  so it;s fixture sensitive rather than an ideal home/away rotation.  Krul though is a very good shot stopper and is 6th on the saves list and 3rd on the bonus points list for GKs.  Next 2 fixtures are good clean sheet prospects as well.  Coloccini nearing fitness will also help the defence.

Adrian £4.5m (3.3%)

The West Ham defence has gone largely under the radar due to a spell of conceding goals mid season that had Big Sam on the brink of getting the sack.  However its all been turned around now and West Ham have 13 clean sheets.  Thats the most in the league with Chelsea.  Like Newcastle they’re more fixture orientated than home focused and are probably better away from home. Adrian is another good   good shot stopper who’s already  got 5 bonus points in 10 games.  He also has the advantage of secure gametime when the rest of the defence has clouds over them due to competition for places

Kolarov £5.0m (4.3%)

Kolarov is the attacking and budget choice for Man City at £5.0m.  The best attacking defensive player in fantasy premier league.   The reason for the low ownership is Citys poor returns away from home and the fact that he is rotated  with Clichy.  So the price and low ownership comes with gametime risk.  Very good off the bench though even when rotated.  With City now free to concentrate on the league then the need for rotation diminishes.  Kolarov has started 8 of the last 13 and started at Barca so to me looks the favoured option which will hopefully see gametime improved.

Smalling £5.2m (1.7%)

With Evra and De Gea being the only secure gametime choices and some rather chaotic defensive performances then it’s no surprise why Smalling has gone under the radar.   However with the injury to Evans and Vidic being phased out due to his transfer to Inter according to Moyes then Smalling stands a reasonable chance of some gametime. He’s by far the cheapest option so at least you get some value for the risk.   However there are 4 CBs still at Man Utd so the risk is still there.

Distin £5.2m (5.2%)

The cheap version next to the attacking FBs of Coleman and Baines who are far more expensive.  Don’t expecy attacking returns though just clean sheet exposure,

Curtis Davies £4.7m (3.1%)

The Hull defence has just gone off the boil recently with no clean sheets in their last 4 home games after a fantastic start.  This plus Man City next  is why they are now a low ownership defence.  However Davies has scored in 3 consecutive games (2 were FA Cup though) and is an excellent attacking budget option.  He’s the  key part of the defence that has 6 home clean sheets, only 1 less than Chelsea and Man City so good rotation option.  Fixtures aren’t easy to the end of the season but good DGW31 fixtures are an attraction

Skrtel £5.6m (3.9%)

It’s no secret why the Liverpool defence has low ownership.  Its because its largely been a complete shambles.  However with 4 goals this season he has excellent attacking form and reasonable DGW31 fixtures.  Liverpool despite the shambles still have 8 clean sheets 5 at home so there is some hope of more

Sissoko £5.7m (3.1%)

1 return in 9 games before the 2 goals at Hull is all you need to know of the reasons for his low ownership.  However he showed some real form with 2 goals at Hull.   He plays in an advanced position wide and does have a the chance  to play centrally behind the striker.  Reasonable fixtures as well

Cazorla £9.5m (3.2%)

Injury and some form lapses have meant he hasn’t shown the form of last year and is some way off the 12 goals and 13 assists of that season. The multitude of Arsenal midfield options and particularly the form of Ozil and Ramsey have seen him cast to the fantasy premier league sidelines.   Add to that  Arsenal’s fixtures  are tricky going forward and you get the reason behind his current low ownership.  However form has definitely improved recently although the returns have yet to come.  He has the chance to put that right as he now may well play behind Giroud in Ozils absence.

Gerrard £9.1m (10.3%)

The most consistent returning midfielder in fantasy premier league courtesy of set pieces and pens.  Just not being bought due to the dominance of Sturridge and Suarez in peoples teams and then the 3rd player being Sterling for value.  Will continue getting returns though if you’re willing to overload your team with Liverpool attacking assets.  The pace of Sturridge and Sterling plus the trickery and dribbling ability of Suarez will continue to get pens.  The set piece strength og Skrtel and Agger will get goals from his excellent delivery.

Mirallas £7.5m (8.5%)

Being dropped for the West Ham game  and seeing Barkley and McGeady subbed in before him can’t have helped his ownership.  Add to that the dominance in fantasy premier league teams of Barkley, some previous gametime issues and inconsistent scoring patterns and you can see why he’s low ownership.  Martinez has made it worse this week spouting on about competition for places in the squad.  Everton have some excellent fixtures though and Mirallas was in reasonable form although his returns have always been fairly streaky.  However the return of Deulofeu casts some doubt over his gametime as was the case before Deulofeu got injured.  If selected and on the right day he can cause some major damage with the fixtures ahead.  If you’re ever going to take the gamble home to Cardiff is the time to do it.

Silva £9.1m (4.4%)

As the midfielder who creates more chances per minute than any other player in fantasy premier league and is the creative hub behind such a free scoring team it’s hard to believe that he has such low ownership.  That reason is simple.  The midfield revelation that has been YaYa Toure and selling due to GW29.  Those factors  coupled with Aguero’s exceptional form when not on the injury table has lead to such a low ownership. However he continues to create chances and get into the box to get shots and sooner or later than luck in not seeing them going in has to stop

Carroll £7.1m (0.3%)

Having had a complete fitness nightmare this year Carroll has finally returned to the West Ham team.  However,  since coming back 5 games ago he’s yet to play more than 63 minutes.  Having had the team built around his attacking style (shall we say) he has the potential to cause havoc between now and the end of the season.  Especially as he must fancy his chances as a plan b option for the England world cup team.

Bony £7.1m (4.6%)

Has had a slow start to the year which is natural coming from the Dutch League where he did score over 30 goals last year.  Held back by Laudrup for fitness reasons its only since Monk took charge that he’s established his gametime.  Now started 10 consecutive games he scored 6 goals in that run in the side and looks a real goal scoring threat.  Tricky fixtures especially the DGW31 make him riskier but he can score against anyone as Man City, Spurs, Tottenham, Man Utd and Liverpool have found out.

Jelavic £6.7m (1.5%)

Not difficult to work out the low ownership here.  The man who started English football by scoring 9 goals after joining Everton in the January window 2 seasons ago couldn’t seem to score to save his life last and this season.  In fact didn’t score at all until GW25.  However followed that up with 2 goals against Cardiff and this could be the turning point he so desperately needs if he’s going to make the Croatia World Cup sqaud.  Good DGW31 fixtures as well.
