Firstly here’s the team. Only 1 transfer Moreno out for Gary Cahill and a double up on the Chelsea defence
The Transfer
Firstly my objective at the moment is just to hold my rank so if you’re chasing this is probably not going to be much use to you. So really I will be looking to prevent my rank dropping as much as possible. The dilemma at the moment is who’s going to play and who’s not. With the FA Cup final coming up and Wenger making noises about resting players I could have easily transferred out all 3 Arsenal players. The Sterling saga this week means he could also be kept out of the spotlight although he’s at least playing away so he’ll incur the wrath of 3,000 supporters instead of a full Anfield. The Arsenal rotation is impossible to predict. Giroud being out of form and Sanchez who’s played alot of fottball without his ususal winter break could easily be rested. Luckily Giroud has no natural replacement with Welbeck injured but Walcott could play up front. I can’t really see the point in dropping 1 of the 2 Arsenal players as I could easily transfer ouit Giroud and he plays and Sanchez is rested. I did seriously think about Lukaku or Ulloa/Vardy for Giroud out though. Benteke also appeals and Sherwood helped that with some positive words about not resting players so he also was an option. In the end I stuck with Giroud.
Sterling is another gametime risk and given his poor form and the “I wont sign at any price” stories this week it’s easy to see him not playing. I guess it could work in reverse as he plays to prove everyone worng but stuck out wide he’s not that much of a threat anyway. I did think of Willian as an option and a beneficiary of Oscar and potentially Hazard being out of the team.
Kane also was another option again for Ulloa/Vardy but his ownership is quite strong still and it’s a bit of a risky choice given that. I would definitely have dumped Sterling earlier than Kane.
In the end I took out Moreno and doubled up on the Chelsea defence at home to Sunderland and put Gary Cahill in. Moreno should play as he did last week but I just can’t see a LIverpool clean sheet whereas Chelsea definitely look like a good clean sheet option. The Chelsea defence also looks like a good bonus point option in that scenario given that they should have all the possession to pad their stats.
The team selection
It’s great to have on the last day such an easy team selection this week for the last game of the season. There were really no dilemmas and in stead of hours mulling over the defensive rotation options it took a matter of minutes. Gk was no issue with Arsenal at home to WBA so Ospina holds his place. In defence the 2 Chelsea players held their place obviously with Morgan the next pick at home to QPR. That leaves Sunderland’s Van Aanholt away to Chelsea and Duff away to Villa as the obvious bench options. Midfield also was very easy with Larsson on the bench and Albrighton starting against QPR. The bench order was no issue and I went for Duff, Van Aanholt and Larsson last.
The Captain choice
Again there was no choice to make, Aguero all the way. No other choice really given the gametime risk to the Arsenal players. Silva is also a poor second to Aguero. Aguero’s also likely to be the overwhelming captain choice and given I’m looking to hold rather than chase then Aguero becomes even more compelling.
