Here’s our team for GW6 plus some narrative on the thought process and transfers plus the dilemmas and issues faced during the week.

Firstly here’s the team. The transfers were also around the defence. Chester out – Bertrand in. Also Coloccini out and Duff of Burnley in
The week really was about whether I would keep Rooney and Ramsey or whether I would go about improving my defence. The conflict was about whether Falcao was the better player for Man Utd and whether Di Maria should replace Ramsey. In the end I decided to see how the West Ham game unfolded before using the transfer. With Costa the likely captain for most people and Falcao 8% owned then the damage is potentially manageable and Rooney even in that position has a good chance of scoring. The Di Maria thing is a little tricker as I could have taken Rooney out and put Ulloa in and with maybe 1 more transfer got Di Maria in. That seemed a little drastic so in the end I decided not to go down that road. Di Maria has been unbelievable but he doesn’t have a geat historic scoring record and comes from deep himself so I decided to hold on. I definitely wouldn’t blame anyone if they made those transfers though. This week is likely to be the end of Terry and from likely to definitely if there’s no clean sheet against Villa and if I put Chambers in instead opens up some cash for those changes. I may live to regret not doing the changes this week but FPL is all about making these calls.
So in the end I went for a defensive reshuffle. With the ownership of the midfield and forwards all focused on 6 or 7 players the temptaion to have the template team means that the defence could be a crucial advantage. At home to QPR meant that a Southampton defender was essential in my mind. I funded that through the sale of Coloccini. Neither Sunderland or Newcastle have defended well at all and Newcastle look beyond awful at the back so I’ve sold him and replaced him with Burnleys £4.2m Duff. That foursome of defenders are not rotation pairs but I at least get the 3 next rounds with perfect rotation. After that I could be looking at ditching Sunderland the way things are going.
Didn’t need to think about the Captain issue and made Costa captain. Apparently he’s going top play with Chelsea playing Sporting in the week. I’m going to try and do a captain article and see if it changes my thinking (or lack of it) but Costa home to Villa, with the best scoring record and underlying stats plus 62% ownership you’re a braver man than me if you go with anyone else.
