fantasy premier league tips – FFGeek team draft 2a and 2b

Fantasy Premier League

A few things have changed since I did my first draft team so I’ve tweaked it and done 2 versions of nearly the same team.

fantasy premier league tips – FFGeek team draft 2a and 2b

A few things have happened since my first draft team so here’s 2 similar versions of the same team (if that makes sense!) and a bit of explanation below the teams:

Team changes from first draft

2a Changes

Mannone out – De Gea in,    Krul out – Gilks in,   Cahill out – Luis Filipe  in,   Baird out – Wisdom in, Ramsey out – Sanchez in,  Aguero out – Dzeko in,  RVP out – Rooney in, Remy out – Sturridge in

2b changes

The same except Aguero out – Costa in and Hazard out – Eriksen in

The changes were essentially down to the 2 overall factors:

1.  RVP and Aguero GW1 fitness doubts

2.  Coverage of high ownership players

RVP and Aguero

Doubts about RVP and Aguero starting in GW1 are the reasons for this.  RVP wont be featuring in preseason until after August the 2nd which gives a player who has had a long season and loads of injury problems only 2 weeks to get fit to start.  It seems a big risk and again more monitoring needs to happen.  Aguero wasn’t involved in the latest game and neither was Zabaleta.  So I’ve taken Aguero out.  In team 2a the injury to Negredo gives far more chance of Dzeko starting regularly.  In 2b I’ve put Costa in as more reliable gametime coverage of Chelseas good fixtures to start with.  That meant ditching Hazard.  Ideally I would have liked Nasri but didn’t have the cash so I put in Eriksen.

Other changes

Of the remaining changes.  There’s no clarity at the moment over Mannone starting so I’ve changed the GK position.  Unfortunately there was no 2 £4.5m rotations possible so in the end I went for De Gea and a non playing £4.0m GK in Gilks of Burnley.  In my experience the newly promoted teams are the more likely to change GKs through the season.

I’ve also changed Baird for Wisdom as he seems more likely to be the WBA RB after his loan from Liverpool.

I put in Filipe Luis instead of Cahill as I’m starting to think he’s got good gametime prospects as a left footed LB.  Still needs monitoring.  That saves me £0.5m.

I changed Ramsey for Sanchez purely due to Sanchez’s high ownership.  All things being equal I would prefer Ramsey given the monetary differential but Sanchez is the highest owned player in the game and I’m not that keen on being left behind if he gets off to a flyer.  Interestingly there are some stories about missing the Austrian training camp so we’ll have to see if that effects his GW1 prospects

The failure of Remy to sign for Liverpool means that I’ve gone for Sturridge instead.

High ownership coverage

The players with over 30% ownership which has been my threshold for ownership where you can get really hurt is a follows:

Shaw:  31.7% – I’ve covered Shaws clean sheets through De Gea.  The reason for this is that in my view a Chelsea defender is essential and Debuchy being such excellent value thats my 2 big defenders covered.  So I’ve not gone for Shaw and covered the clean sheets at least through De Gea

Sanchez:  32.4% – The highest % owned player.  I’ve put him in purely for that coverage over Ramsey

Sturridge:  30.5% – With Remy not coming to Liverpool, Sturridges consistency will be helpful.  He did return last season without Suarez in the team so thats not a concern at the moment.

Captain consideration

One of the big advantages of the Aguero/RVP strike force is the rotation of the captains armband.  The changes above make it tricky.  In team 2a I would feel nervous about anyone except Rooney and Sturridge having the armband.  Dzeko and Hazard are too unreliable.  Sanchez is still an unknown quantity.  Even Rooney needs some positional issues sorted although if RVP doesn’t start he should be the central striker. The problem with Rooney and Sturridge is they don’t rotate home and away very well.  Last year though United and Rooney were better away from home and that could be a way of solving the issue but it’s not ideal.

Team 2b with Costa in the team gives another dimension to the captain position.  Costa should be gametime secure and will be the focus of the attack.

OK remember still a long way to go so there will be alot of changes.  Hope you found it useful for your teams thoughts though at this stage.
