fantasy premier league tips – the FFGeek team draft 3

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

The weekend saw enough significant events for me to realise that a few changes were needed to my draft team.  So here’s a fantasy premier league tips article to cover that

fantasy premier league tips – the FFGeek team draft 3

Firstly here’s the team as it stands and then I’ll go through the transfers and the rationale behind it

Here’s our last article:

Ok so here’s the transfers:

£6.0m Man City CB Otamendi to £5.0m Man City CB Stones

With the transfer just confirmed this morning Stones now seems great value at £5.0m for a Man City defender.  My feeling is that with Kompany out he should play.  He has the passing ability that Guardiola needs that Mangala doesn’t.  A Sunderland team at home seems a great time to make your debut too.  It’s not without risk but £1m is a big reward

£9.5m Man Utd mid Mkhitarayan to £10.0m Chelsea mid Hazard

2 things killed it for me with Mkhitaryan.  Mourinho stating that he was having trouble implementing his ideas after 2 years of LVG. Not good.  The clincher though was Mkhitaryan only playing 2 minutes in the Community shield.  Hazard fills a couple of captain gaps and the gamble is that his late season form and the Euro’s plus a new manager will turn him back into the player of the season he was in 14/15

£5.5m C Palace mid Puncheon to £5.5m Middlesborough mid Fischer

Puncheon lined up in the 2 of 4-2-3-1 in a recent friendly and that ended it for me set pieces or not.  Fischer has a good record albeit in the rather dodgy Dutch league, has had a rested pre-season and Middlesborough have good fixtures so I’m rolling the dice with him.

£7.5m Swansea mid Sigurdsson to £8.5m Liverpool mid Firmino

I really want someone from Swansea in the team given that Burnley and Hull are the first 2 fixtures.  However Ayew is now at West Ham, Siggy has yet to play a minute of pre-season and Llorente has literally just joined which must make him a minutes risk if nothing else.  Firmino lined up as a striker in the recent friendly and Klopp has started those “I don’t have a clue when Sturridge will be fit” type statements.  It’s definitely possible that Origi could play striker but even with pretty ordinary fixtures Firmino is worth the risk.

£6.5m Southampton fwd Austin to £6.0m C Palace fwd Wickham

Southampton lined up with 1 forward in a recent friendly and it wasn’t Austin so thats the end of him.  Wickham has shown some recent form in preseason and does have fixtures on his side

£4.5m Watford CB Cathcart to £4.5m Stoke LB Pieters

About nothing more than Cathcart being an injury doubt and while I have no intention of playing him in GW1 I don’t like the idea of him losing his place if things go well for his potential replacement.  I’m not wild about the Stoke defence but the rotation works well and at the price it’s a difficult one.

Team structure

The spread of teams and players this year may make it more difficult but essentially I’ve got to 5 core attacking players in Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Hazard, Eriksen and Firmino plus 2 defensive ones in Stones for Man City and Shaw for Man Utd.

There are 2 fixture based cheap players in Wickham and Fischer.

Then a 3 way defensive rotation.

The bench should at all times be £4.5m

Captain watch

Here’s how my captain selection would look against the possible polls captain favourite.  I don’t like going without the captain favourite I have to say.

GW1

My selection Aguero v Sunderland.  Possible favourite same

GW2

My selection:  Hazard away to Watford.  Possible favourite:  Kane home to Palace

GW3

My selection:  Hazard home to Burnley or Ibra away to Hull:  Possible favourite same

GW4

Too difficult

GW5

My selection:  Aguero home to Bournemouth;  Possible favourite same

GW6

My selection:  Firmino home to Hull:  Possible favourite same

So not bad.  GW2 being the possible problem but if Ibrahimovic does well at Bournemouth then he could be the favourite home to Southampton though
