After our defensive rotation articles here is an article where we actually nominate some potential £4.5m players for those positions. We also look at possible players for the 5th midfielder position at that price
fantasy premier league tips – finding the £4.5m men
The 2 team defensive rotation options
Here for the above defender rotations are the players who have a reasonable prospect of playing at £4.5m or below. Remember there are alot of transfers and injuries that can occur before the start of the season so this is subject to preseason analysis
Defenders
Bournemouth/Watford
Francis RB Bournemouth/Cathcart CB Watford
Francis should be safe. As should Cathcart but there is a decent amount of competition for that CB spot so needs watching
Burnley/WBA
Mee LB Burnley/McAuley WBA
Both should be safe. Both have some goal threat too.
Crystal Palace/ Swansea
Souare LB C Palace/?
Souare is the only Palace player that is £4.5m with a shot at playing and it looks positive at the moment
For Swansea everyone apart from Williams is under £4.5m so it’s whether soome one becomes nailed on in pre-season
Hull/Stoke
Robertson LB Hull/Pieters LB/Wollscheid CB
Interestingly the injury to Odubajo could allow £4.0m Lenihan to start at RB. There’s a number of options at Stoke it’s just who starts
Hull/Mboro
Robertson LB Hull/Friend Mboro
I’m a little doubtful over Mboro so needs monitoring over the pre-season
Goalkeepers
Bournemouth/Watford
Boruc GK Bournemouth/
Boruc should hold his place but this season Gomes of Watford is £5.0m
Burnley/WBA
Heaton GK Burnley/Foster GK WBA
Both should be safe.
Crystal Palace/ Swansea
?/
4 £4.5m GKs at Palace and it should be Mandana or Hennessey. Fabianski at Swansea is £5.0m
Hull/Stoke
Jakupovic GK Hull/
With McGregor out for 6 months then Jakupovic at £4.0m is next in line. However it’s unlikely another keeper wont be bought to change that
Butland is £5.0m
Hull/Mboro
Jakupovic GK Hull/Valdes GK Mboro
Again, with McGregor out for 6 months then Jakupovic at £4.0m is next in line. However it’s unlikely another keeper wont be bought to change that
Hard to see that Valdes joined without some guarantees to play
The 3 team defensive rotation options
Hull/Middlesboro/Watford
Robertson LB Hull/Friend Mboro/Cathcart Watford
Middlesboro/Sunderland/Watford
Friend Mboro/Kone Sunderland/Cathcart Watford
Kone has good attacking stats. Assuming Big Sam takes the England job though will that dilute their defensive resolve?
The midfielders
As far as the £4.5m midfielders are concerned they will be your 5th midfielder and will be on the bench each game. I’ve said that in my mind the main objective is security of starts as opposed to sacrificing security for points potential. If someone is rotated or injured unexpectedly you want your 5th midfielder to come off the bench and give you at least 2 points. Also I personally don’t like value sitting on the bench so this minimises that.
There are 2 schedules which give stats on the players. The first schedule ranks the players on minutes for last season. Then it gives stats which are fairly straightforward. In green are the ones which give their goals/assists and points potential
You’ll see that I’ve left the security of starts ranking (1 for no chance 10 for nailed on). Thats to be updated later in pre-season.
The 2nd schedule is a few other players. Some new to the league (therefore no point stats) and some just out of interest. People who come onto the site will know I am a bit of a Rodwell fan for no reason it seems so I’ve included him despite his apalling injury record and lack of production and start security.
At the moment I’ve gone for the obvious in Fletcher but I’ll keep considering it
Hope that helps your team selection remember there are a number of articles on players in various positions to help you experiment for your team
