FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE TIPS GW10 – THE BEST DEFENCES AND DEFENDERS “ones to watch”
THE BEST VALUE AND ATTACKING DEFENDERS
So here’s the table. Effectively I’ve ranked the defences taking into account their defensive stats strength plus the rank of easiness of the upcoming next 6 fixtures. I’ve then given you the best value defender and the best attacking defender. Values are as of Wednesday. This is the ranking of their defensive strength.
Next is the fixture ease and then the bookies odds for a clean sheet in GW10. Use those 2 columns to make an adjustment if you want
SOME NOTES
team talk
Chelsea LWB Alonso has now started 2 games in the new Chelsea 3-4-3 formation and looks a great attacking option in a defence thats found it’s mojo in the new formation
£4.1m Swansea CB cheapie Amat lost his place although it was part of a number of changes. A permanent loss? We’ll have to see
The cheapie Palace LB saga goes on. £4.4m Kelly started and last into the 70’s which has to give some hope but Fryers is still on his tail and looks a much better attacking option.
The Southampton defence could get first teamsers Bertrand and Soares back this weekend ending any cheapie possibility for Martina and Targett
Spurs £6.5m CB Alderweireld apparently has a chance to return fr the weekend. Good news for defensive solidity and with Dier ( a midfielder) not Wimmer starting there was little cheapie prospect anyway
Clucas replaced the injured Hull LB Robertson. He’s a mid in FPL so no cheapie there.
West Ham have also used a back 3 successfully. Both potential FBs in Byram and Musuakau are injured with no return date. Current LB Fernandes is a mid.
Watford RB Janmaat could be back for Watford at the weekend although who needs him with Holebas in the form he is.
Everton LB Baines looks like he could be fit for another attacking dimension
Man Utd CB Bailly could be out for 2 months. Blind will most likely go to CB with Shaw coming in at LB.
the weekends defensive performances
Performance of the week was undoubtedly Middlesborough getting a 0-0 at Arsenal. It was an excellent performance. I’ve been surprised at their stats which have been really good but this game showed they were no fluke.
Southampton showed why they were ranked so high too with a solid performance at City.
Liverpool despite the late set piece defended well
Although Everton conceded 2 goals to one of the poorest attacking teams they actually gave away little defensively apart from some costly errors
Both Swansea and Watford showed surprising defensive solidity
On the other hand the Arsenal defensive performance despite the clean sheet was poor. They were lucky not to concede. At the moment even allowing for the injury ridden start their defenders don’t deserve the premium price given the stats
