fantasy premier league tips – my imaginary wildcard GW3

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my GW3 imaginary wildcard.  This is where I pretend I’m using my Wildcard to give you some ideas for players with a little more longevity than the next gameweek. I’ve done it to fit in within my existing budget which will be similar to most FPL managers at the moment with it being GW3.

Here’s the team and I’ll talk through the selections in very brief terms below. You can see the detail of individual players and stats from my “ones to watch” articles just completed.

Team structure

I’ve stuck with 3-4-3 and kept 3 top quality forwards to give decent captain options. This has pushed my budget though meaning I can afford only 1 elite defender plus 2 pairs of rotating cheapies.  I’ve also gone for 2 rotating cheapie GKs.  The midfield has also meant 2 rotating cheapies.  Here’s some very basic commentary

Mannone and Krul

I’ve gone for the perfect rotation of Sunderland and Newcastle at GK.  I think the Sunderland defence will be strong and Newcastle have been surprisingly impressive.

Debuchy

Out of the top 7 sides Debuchy stands out as the value with long term gametime security.

Stoke and Swansea

Some really excellent fixtures going forward with this rotation.  Uncertainty over Wilson and a Bardsley injury has made me go for the LB Pieters.  Taylor is the natural cheapie for Swansea.

Duff and Robertson

Again great fixtures in rotation.  Burnley I’m unsure of but Hull are strong at home.  Chester becomes a slight gametime risk if Bruce goes to 4-4-2 with Dawson joining.

Mata

Great fixtures and bounced back to score against Sunderland.  The risk is the Di Maria effect on his position.

Ramsey

2 goals in 2 games and 46% ownership makes him essential

Siggy

Shown his attacking ability and has good fixtures.

Rodwell and Albrighton

Could have been JWP and Albrighton who rotate better.  I’m a Rodwell fan though so I’ll stick with him.  Albrighton is still my attacking £4.5m midfield pick but he’s a big risk if he can’t get into the side

Sturridge

Consistent returner of last season.  Very unlucky against City.

Aguero

Who knows how many minutes he will get but he will have to be in your team at sometime so home to Stoke seems a good place to start

Rooney

46% ownership, great fixtures, he’s essential

Note re Chelsea

You’ll see no Chelsea players.  If I was using my Wildcard I would leave Costa this week and bring him back next week assuming he’s fit.  Maybe for Sturridge but as his minutes sound limited for GW3 I wouldn’t put him in this week.
