fantasy premier league tips – the template for a number of successful managers

Fantasy Premier League

For regular visitors to the site they will know that I do a regular article following 10 top FPL managers.  These managers averaged 20k last season and before that none of the ten had finished lower than 10k in the 3 years before.  Unfortunately alot of the managers aren’t on social media or on popular forums.  However I have been scouting around various forums and sites are able to put together a team which is a consensus among a number of managers who’ve been reasonably successful in the past.  It may swing your view if you’re debating on some players in your team

Firstly here’s the team:

So very interesting.  In my latest draft I have 6 players.  Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Shaw, Friend plus Foster and Jakupovic.

The thing to remember though is that alot of these managers would already have decided they are going to use the wildcard after 3 games so this team above reflects that to some extent and their team is a function of that short period.  So that’s something to bear in mind when discussing these teams.

Firstly dealing with the differences in attack.  I also have for Crystal Palace, Puncheon instead of Townsend although that’s due to budget.  I would prefer Townsend over Puncheon all things being equal.

I have Siggy over Ayew.  I would expect that Ayew will drop off now with Llorente having joined as Ayew will no longer be the striker.  He’s also linked with West Ham which will confuse matters.

I have Austin over Gray.  Gray has really been on fire in preseason and that has seen him the player of choice.  I’ve been resistant of him as I didn’t want to overload on new players especially as I also have Mkhitaryan.

Tadic I have alot of time for and think he could be successful next season.  Leko I would need a bit more convincing on gametime. He did start the last friendly though in what was a strong team.  Mahrez is hard to argue against especially with Hull first up.  It’s just repeating last season and the price hike.

In defence I don’t have any argument over the 3 players I don’t have in Baines, Pieters and McAuley.  Baines is a very good shout depending on penalties and set piece responsibility.  Koeman will definitely improve the defence.  Whether I would have him as my second defender over an Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea defender is another thing though.  No argument over Pieters and McAuley it’s just whether I would have 2 WBA players in the defence/GK area.  Also the idea with 3 is to try and come up with a combination that will give the best set of games as well as the best individual defences wheras this is just the numbers of times the players have been picked.

Looking at it in the reverse way round there are 2 major differences with my team in that I have Mkhitaryan and Eriksen.  I personally find it difficult to overlook Spurs and Eriksen is my pick to shine.  I did get a bit nervous about 2 Man Utd players in my team today with Mourinho saying today that he was concerned that he was struggling to undo 2 years of LVG out of the team.  For LVG I think he means slow tempo, sideways passing , pointless possession and clean sheets at the expense of goals.  Not what you want to hear when you have 1/5 roughly of your team budget invested in them.

That’s it.  Hope it at least gave you some food for thought
