fantasy premier league transfer tips gameweek 7 – some musings over the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League

Oh what it would be to have a wildcard today given the circumstances hitting my team at the moment.  Therefore I thought a few words in my fantasy premier league transfer tips gameweek 7 article before the gameweek deadline maybe useful if you’re having some of the same issues.  I’m leaving transfers to Friday/Saturday due to these issues even though price rises for potential targets are happening all over the place.

So as if a rank of 806k isn’t bad enough and approximately 60 odd points away from the top 10k the team looks like an injury and selection nightmare.  So I thought I would discuss some of the issues being faced before the gameweek deadline.  I’m still ahead of 3 of the top 10 FPL managers I follow but it’s a difficult start to say the least.  If there wasn’t the issues in this article then I would probably hold out and save a transfer.  Firstly here’s the team:

The injuries

Only 2 injuries but to 2 crucial expensive players.  They are Silva and Benteke.  If they were fit I would probably stick with them given the fixtures of away to Spurs and home to Villa respectively.  At the moment it looks like Silva will be fit given he’s being pictured in training although with the Champions League next week he could feasibly be rested again as a precaution.  Benteke looks more negative,  the press is quite negative about him being fit.  Hopefully the press conference on Friday will give some clue as to his fitness but if it looks like he will be missing then he’s likely to be my transfer target.  The obvious choice is Martial due to the huge bandwagon thats taking place.  I also hate not having the captain polls leader (which he is at the moment) in my team as it inevitably means a big ranking fall if he’s successful.  Anytime you’re afraid to watch a game due to someone playing it’s a watch out.   The for’s, if you like, for Martial are that he is a cheap striker leading the line for Man Utd and to be fair he looks fantastic all round and has hit the ground running with 3 goals in 2 games. Also Sunderland next looks like a car crash.   The againsts are that he’s really scored from virtually only 3 shots, that Man Utd are hardly a scoring machine, that LVG has talked about treating him carefully and the fixtures after the Sunderland game aren’t easy.  There are other choices which I ranked ahead of him in Ighalo, Sakho and Gomis which have less risk overall and better fixtures but don’t cut out the immediate problem.

Silva is more straight forward.  Given Citys fixtures I will probably go for De Bruyne or go for a Chelsea player such as Pedro or Hazard.

The players who could lose their place

At the moment I’ve got Southampton LB Targett who was taken off at half time and looks certain to lose his place very soon to Bertrand.  He’s definitely going to lose his place.  I’d rather not sell him before a home game to Swansea if I could help it although there could be better home fixtures.

Joe Gomez, Liverpools LB, lost his place to Moreno in GW6 who also managed an assist in that game.  Too early to say he’s definitely lost his place but should he play at home to Carlisle in the Cap 1 tonight then it’s a further negative sign.  Home to Villa is not the time to sell if it can be avoided.

Darmian was also subbed off at half time after LVG criticised his handling of Tadic.  Doesn’t mean he won’t start but it’s not great news.  There’s no way he’s going before a home game to Sunderland though.

Thats before I even get into the loss of WBA GK Myhill with Foster coming back at some time in October.

So I’m probably doing nothing and hoping that at least 1 plays to give me 3 defenders although what use Villa CB away to Richards will be is questionable.

I don’t particularly have replacements in mind.  Always having Pulis WBA representation is essential.   A Watford defender looks a good shout.  An Arsenal defender and maybe Chelsea CB Begovic when Myhill loses his place.  Bournemouth RB Francis seems another cheap option.

Chelsea

In retrospect it looks like I should have sold Darmian rather than Pedro as Pedro wasn’t injured and now he plays Newcastle and then has 2 home games to Southampton and then Villa.  To make matters worse Darmian may not even play against Sunderland which looked like a clean sheet banker.  I’m reluctant to use a transfer to take say Sanchez out for Hazard especially with the issues faced elsewhere but it is a problem thats for sure.

So…

Lots to think about before Friday/Saturday with multiple problems and multiple permutations which could force transfers.  I really don’t want to take a 4 point hit and I will never ever take an 8 point hit to sort everything out.  Anyway on to Friday/Saturday.  Hope this helped your thinking or at least focused your mind if you’re having the same problems.
