fantasy premier league transfer tips GW8 – the early bandwagons and sinking ships

The Bandwagons

These are the most transferred in players so far in the gameweek

Vardy

The £6.4m Leicester forward has had over twice the number of transfers in as any other player so far in the gameweek.  This is a response to his 2 goal and 12 FPL point haul  in the 5-2 loss to Arsenal.  It’s an incredible 6 goals and 1 assist so far in the season.  It’s also an incredible 86% consistency return rate (ie the % of games that a goal or assist is returned).  He also has good underlying shooting and creating chances stats.  The fixtures also look ok.  The only question is that you’ll probably already own Mahrez so do you want to double up on attack with Leicester?

Alexis Sanchez

The £11.1m Arsenal midfielder was drinking at the last chance saloon for many against Leicester with 1 assist in his first 6 games.  However he came out all guns blazing with an incredible hat trick against Leicester and a 20 FPL point haul.  That was an eventual reward for those who kept faith due to his obvious ability and continued excellent shooting stats.  Difficult game next but fixtures improve after that

Everton (H)

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)

Martial

The £8.4m Manchester United rewarded the massive bandwagon with an assist only against bottom team Sunderland.  It was a fairly uninspiring 1 shot and 2 creating chances afternoon although he would have had another assist had Depay finished a 1 on 1 chance towards the end.  The lack of shooting stats has been a feature of his play so far although these haven’t always been required for goals as Harry Kane showed us last season.  Fixtures are now difficult

West Brom (H)

Dier

The £5.1m Spurs defender playing in central midfield as a CDM scored against City after seeing 3 consecutive clean sheets prior to that.  He with Alderweireld is the cheapest of the Spurs defence although £4.5m LB Davies is starting to seal his place.  Fairly mixed fixtures though

Bournemouth (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)

Sturridge

2 goals and a 13 point FPL haul for the £10.5m Liverpool forward in only his 2nd game of the season.  A proven FPL player.  Last season in an injury hit campaign he got 4 goals and 3 assists at an FPL point of 16.3 mins.  The year prior to that 22 goals and 8 assists at an FPL point every 11.5 mins. Fixtures aren’t easy though

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Callum Wilson

The £5.9m Bournemouth forward was stretchered off with a knee injury against Stoke and in the words of manager Eddie Howe “It doesn’t look good” .  A long spell on the sidelines looks inevitable and it’s a sell for me

Watford (H)
Man City (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)

Benteke

The £8.4m Liverpool forward started with a 2-3 week hamstring injury and ended up with Rodgers saying there was no timeline on his return.  That statement and the upcoming tricky fixtures mean it looks like a sell

Everton (A)
Spurs (A)
Southampton (H)
Chelsea (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)

Yaya Toure

The £9.0m Man City midfielder went off after 55 minutes with a hamstring problem and is a definite doubt for the Champions League midweek although it will need more info to see if it means he will be absent for GW8.  The assist against Spurs was his first return after 3 blanks before that.  However he has started well overall with 2 goals and 2 assists in the first 3.  The fixtures are still excellent though with 2 good homes games coming up.  His underlying stats are only ok but he has shown he doesn’t really need that to return.  He played this game further up the field but the return of Silva will see him start deeper

Newcastle (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Man Utd (A)
Norwich (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)

Gomis

After scoring in his first 4 games it’s now 3 consecutive games without a goal or assist.  He was also subbed after 45 minutes in the GW7 loss to Southampton with no shots or chances created or pen box touches in that 45 minutes.  His underlying shooting stats overall though are good so from that side it’s positive. 2 home games next though and apart from Arsenal in the next 6 the fixtures aren’t too bad,

Spurs (H)
Stoke (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Arsenal (H)
Norwich (A)
Bournemouth (H)

David Silva

It seems people are losing faith in David Silva and any ability to be fit even though he is expected to be back for the home game to Newcastle in GW8. No positive news though for the midweek Champions League game yet though and after missing 3 consecutive games people are obviously losing faith especially with De Bruyne in such good form

Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
