fantasy premier league transfers – “the Geek detective”- 10 things I’ll be looking out for in DGW34 – THE FOLLOW UP PART 1

Gameweek analysis

Here’s my first part of the follow up on the above article.  The follow up is in Italics:  Here’s my fantasy premier league transfers to do list for my weekend.  Things to watch out for in DGW34.   I’ll follow it up as we progress through the weekend.  Some of it will be focused on DGW37.

1.  Aguero

His gametime and his form will be a key watchout for the weekend.  Many of you would have already put him in but those who haven’t will be looking for this.  That’s as well as well as watching through your fingers given his explosive potential if you don’t own him.  Will he take back pens as well, given how well YYT has done with them.

He started from the bench and came on for the last half  hour.  It was a pretty uninspiring performance from Aguero.  He didn’t have a shot and slightly misweighted a pass that would have seen Silva score.  Apart from that he virtually didn’t touch the ball.  In some ways I thought it was a positive him not starting as that meant he would start against Sunderland but Dzeko was excellent and Aguero very quiet.   There maybe a repeat of him on the subs bench against Sunderland.

2.  Man City – 2 strikers or 1?

Both games couldn’t be more different. 1 away to a title contender and another to a relegation threatened team at home.  The formations and who plays where will be of great interest and a pointer to the rest of the season.

Well it was only 1 striker.  Good for Silva owners and he was excellent in the 2nd half.  If any game was going to be a single striker game though it was this one.  Even chasing the win Pellegrini stayed with a single striker subbing Dzeko for Aguero.  The Sunderland game will be interesting.  It’s possible Pellegrini may start with 1 striker given Agueros quiet performance and Silvas excellent game.

 3.  Silva

Will he play midweek?  That will be a tester of the toe injury.  If he doesn’t what is that effect for DGW37?  Without that DGW he maybe come an expendable asset.  Obviously the above regarding formation is of huge significance.  Behind a lone striker he has been phenomenal.

This is about whether he plays the midweek game.  He was excellent though in the Liverpool match and ran the 2nd half playing behind the striker.

4.  Nasri

How will the return of Aguero affect his gametime?  Will they go to 2 strikers and if so will he share his gametime with Navas.  With 1 striker both Nasri and Navas could easily start

Nasri was also excellent and combined well with Silva.  He also lasted the whole game with Milner coming on for Navas.  Should Pellegrini play 1 striker against Sunderland then he maybe looking like a 90 minute player rather than a 60 minuter.

5.  Amalfitano

Will the £4.2m cheapie midfielder become an option for DGW37?  We’ll check his gametime and form.

Stats wise he was reasonably quiet but came away with an assist and a good performance.  Played the whole 90 minutes as well.  Looks a good cheapie bet for DGw37 so far. 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 games and returning in all his last 3 is some form for £4.2m.

6.  Delph

Another cheapie DGW37 midfielder to check fitness and form on.

He played the full 90 minutes but offered no attacking threat in a game dominated by Palace. A goal and 2 assists in his last 5 games (although none in last 2) and a £4.4m price tag still makes him an option as a cheapie fill in for DGW37

7.  Ramsey’s return

Will he continue to show the promise that he did in the Everton game getting forward or was that just a function of chasing the game.  His ownership is high but it’s probably in the main people who have ditched their FPL team.  Does he get forward in a central position as he did at the start of the season.

Played 113 minutes in the FA Cup semi.  Ramsey’s strength this season has been his ability to find spoace and shooting positions by getting behind the defence in a structured attack. Also his energy makes him lethal on the counter attack.  However he didn’t get forward enough to be a threat when Arsenal was in possesssion and Arsenal dominated the game so counter attack was not a feature.  Impressive minutes though.  The Wednesday game at home to West Ham will be interesting.  Arsenal have some good fixtures.

8.  The Chelsea midfield

We’ll be monitoring the form of cheapie £5.5m Salah especially and Willian for future purchase potential  considering their excellent form and value.

Salah, Willian and Schurrle lined up as the attacking midfilders.  No Oscar interestingly.  There were noises after the game that Hazard could be back quicker than thought.  Schurrle was replaced at half time but Salah and Willian played to the end.  How Salah didn’t score is beyond me.  However it was a good pointer for the future. Willian created a number of chances.  Despite neither returning, Salah especially at £5.5m looks a good punt.  Salahs ineligible for the Champions league and at £5.5m he’s hardly a big outlay even with gametime risk.

9.  Gerrards 10th booking

Should he get it, their will be a 2 match ban and a wave of selling.  We’ll be watching for that.

No yellow card, no ban.  Plus an assist with what I thought was his only corner.  Why doesn’t he take more?

10. Newcastle, Norwich and Cardiff away

Can the 3 most hopeless teams keep shipping goals to provide transfer targets for us?  We’ll check out their form and stats

Only 2 goals conceded between the 3 teams.  How did Cardiff go from 10 goals conceded in 3 games to a clean sheet.  Anyone who had and played Cala take a bow.  Newcastle and Norwich really had some of the poorer attacking opposition against them in Stoke and Fulham.  Cardiff though was an inexplicable surprise although they did concede a decent number of shots.

Thats it enjoy the gameweek!
