fantasy premier league transfers – GW32 – the early bandwagons and sinking ships

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my view of the fantasy premier league bandwagons and sinking ships for GW32 up coming.  If your’e not familiar these are the 5  most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.    Remember the gameweek is still continuing so for 10 teams so transferring in of those players carries injury risk

I’ve put the fixtures to the end of the season after each player and specifically highlighted which have DGWs in DGW34 and DGW37.  Ive also highlighted the remaining DGW31 fixture so you can see if there’s another game to watch if you need more data as it were

Mutch

An excellent attacking midfielder who specialises in getting into the box to score goals.  His 2nd goal against Liverpool at the weekend from the knockdown of Jones sums up what he does.  He’s currently the highest point scoring midfielder under £5.0m.  His recent negative has been gametime with him being left out of the team as part of the tinkering of OGS.  I wish there was some logic to it, that maybe it was in away games to the higher ranked teams but he was on the bench at home to Villa for example.  Anyway this should seal his gametime you would hope.  Has scored against higher and lower ranked teams so hard to predict when to play him.  Some good fixtures.

Rodriguez

Has now returned in 3 consecutive games after not returning in 4 prior to that.  That was his worst run since getting into the team.  Top of the total points scored, points per game and form table in fantasy premier league for those forwards under £7m.  Specialises in scoring goals away from home.  Fixtures are a little mixed.  Just depends on whether you want to invest big in your midfield or have one of the more expensive strikers such as Rooney or Aguero with Suarez and Sturridge.

Skrtel

Now the top equal goal scoring defender with Seamus Coleman with 6 goals.  Looks lethal at set pieces and the 2 goals scored against Cardiff underlined that.  The price is reasonably good value at £5.7m and thats because the Liverpool defence with 9 clean sheets is a mid ranked clean sheet defence.  It’s the same as Newcastle for example.  The last 4 results are a good example of their issues.  2 clean sheets sandwiched in by 2 lots 3 goals conceded. The fixtures are mixed which makes it hard to predict clean sheets especially as the clean sheets have been relatively evenly spread between home and away

YYT

2 pens and an unbelieveable long range effort from YYT at the weekend sums up his season.  Has pens until Aguero returns.  Has 2 DGWs to come and over 40% ownership so will hurt you badly everytime he scores.  16 goals and the top goal scorer behind Suarez and Sturridge.  It may defy logic but it’s true and he’s a definite buy

Rooney

Ive consistently said Rooneys best position is as the most advanced striker and the 2 goals scored against West Ham game did nothing to change that.  With some very good fixtures and RVP out for 4-6 weeks plus Mata behind him then this could be a very productive period for Rooney.  He is a buy in my mind

Giroud

Every week Giroud seems to be in either in the bandwagon or  sinking ship category.  In typical fashion he’s followed up his 2 goals and an assist at home to Sunderland in GW27 with 3 blanks.  Admittedly these were 3 reasonably tough away games. To illustrate his unpredictability, this season he’s gone 4 consecutive games scoring and 4 games consecutively not returning.  That would mean a big score at Swansea to come and he’s in the bandwagons next week!  I think you get the picture.   He gets a lot of shots but conversion is an issue.  Depends on whether you think there are better options for your forward position.  Fixtures are good starting at GW34

Mertesacker

The Arsenal defence did itself no favours with its 3rd away thrashing of the season to one of the title contenders when Chelsea replicated what Liverpool and City did.  To me Mertesacker is just too expensive compared to Koscielny.  However the Arsenal home defence speaks for itself.  They’ve got more clean sheets and conceded less goals than anyone.  When you consider West Ham, Newcastle and WBA still have to visit there’s some good clean sheets prospects left.  I think the Arsenal defence has got legs the question is whether you want £6.4m invested in it.

Adebayor

An ankle/foot injury with no return date according to Physio room although the fantasy premier league site says it’s a hamstring injury and he has 75% chance of playing?  The selling is a natural correction of purchases from GW29 and the injury.  Given the form of other strikers, the fact that he’s only had 1 assist in his last 4 games selling is an understandable reaction when coupled with the injury.  Fixtures are ok after Liverpool in GW32 though

Dzeko

Seemed certain to lead the line against Fulham until suddenly laid up sick and ended up with Negredo playing.  No indication if he will be playing against United.  With Aguero back in training and looking to play no later than GW33 then a sale seems inevitable at some stage.  With GW32 away to Arsenal seems a good game to sell before.  The questions is whether you want events to play out during the week to see the state of Dzeko’s illness and Aguero’s injury as he does seem the favoured striker after Aguero.

Szczesny

Similar comments to Mertesacker in that compared to Koscielny at £5.7m he’s quite expensive with no bonus potential.  However starting at GW34 the fixtures are very favourable and the Arsenal defence is good enough against the lower sides to reap some decent clean sheets.  It’s just whether you have the patience to wait for the City and Everton games to play out.
