Fantasy Premier League GW8 – The Bandwagons and Sinking Ships

bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league transfers GW8 article where we analyse the GW8 bandwagons and sinking ships. These are the most transferred in and out players so far in the gameweek. There’s no selection on my part it’s a function of what FPL managers are doing. There’s a table of stats, some narrative on their prospects and the next 6 fixtures they face. Just a reminder from last week that some of the stats are new as we now only look at 16/17 stats

KEY:

PPM: FPL Points per match
Consistency: the % of games that a player gets a goal or assist
Fixt ease: The ease of the next 6 and 3 fixtures (6/3) coming up. The lower the better fixtures
ICT PM: The ICT scores per match. These are taken from the FPL website and are there to represent the players underlying stats. I is influence, C creativity and T threat. The underlying stats that will represent the possibility of a goal or assist
Last 4: The last 4 matches played and the % of games that the player gets a goal or assist
ATGS odds: The anytime goalscoring odds for the next match from 1 bookie. Its £’s return for £1 invested

HEUNG-MIN SON

The incredible transformation of the South Korean Spurs AM continues apace and it’s now 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.  Mark my words this run is no fluke as his underlying stats are nothing short of incredible.  To add to the attraction he played the last game as striker.  That surely won’t continue  in the long term but it’s hard to see him being ousted as an attacking midfielder in the short term irrespective of whether Pochettinho plays an attacking midfield 3 or 4 in front of Wanyama

Next 6 fixtures:

West Brom (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (A)

COSTA

Seemingly 100 years old as if he appeared from a spaghetti western the Chelsea striker continued his fantastic starting run with a goal and an assist against Hull making it 6 goals  and 2 assists to date.  Even more impressive is that it’s only 1 yellow card in his last 3 although he’s on 4 in total and 1 more before the turn of the year will see a 1 match suspension.  Nothing wrong with his underlying stats either.  This start is no fluke.  Tough fixtures though

Leicester (H)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Spurs (H)

LUKAKU

A fantastic free kick goal against Palace added to the Everton strikers repertoire of goals this season.  It’s now 5 goals and 1 assist to date.  May also have pens depending on how long Baines is out.  Great underlying stats too.

Man City (A)
Burnley (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (A)
Swansea (H)
Southampton (A)

MILNER

Out of position midfielders are very much in vogue at the moment but the attraction is mainly for those playing as strikers as opposed to those playing left back.  However penalty duties are the attraction for the Liverpool utility player and it’s 3 goals in his last 2 games and 4 goals and an assist for the season to date. By the way it’s worth checking out the parody twitter site “Boring James Milner” if you haven’t already.  Very funny.

Man Utd (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)

AGUERO

He may have blanked against Spurs but it wasn’t for lack of efforts.  5 goals in 5 games for the Man City striker.  Backed up by fantastic underlying stats and penalty duties.  An essential for me.

Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Burnley (A)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

IBRAHIMOVIC

You can have all the previous goals and assists, consistency, underlying stats and penalty duties you like but if you blank in 2 atrractive home matches in a row at this price then you are going to pay in transfers out.  Thats what’s happening now.  He will make those people transferring the Man Utd striker out pay.  It’s just no one knows when and that’s the issue with saying the goals will come.  However if you’re going to sell, doing so before away games to Chelsea  and Liverpool is a good time to do so

Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (H)

DE BRUYNE

The Man City play maker has had a fantastic start to the season and this is only about his hamstring injury.  Apparently back for GW9 which is the Southampton game

Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Burnley (A)

LALLANA

The Liverpool midfielder is out with a groin strain and at the moment there is no return date.  Great start to the season with 3 goals and 3 assists.  This is injury related only.

Man Utd (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)

NEGREDO

The Middlesborough striker has got no goals or assists in his last 5.  He has no underlying stats of note to hang your hat on to say it’s going to change either.  Add to the fact that he was a sub only in GW7 and it’s going to end in tears and mass transfers out

Watford (H)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man City (A)
Chelsea (H)
Leicester (A)

HAZARD

The Chelsea LAM really is the FPL version of a roller coaster.  Hopeless for the majority of last year.  Brilliant at season end and in the Euros plus the beginning of this season and now hopeless again as the underlying stats fall of a cliff to remind us that no returns in his last 4 really are  no mirage or sick joke.

Leicester (H)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Spurs (H)
