fantasy premier league transfers – which real life transfers will benefit FPL managers?

Fantasy Premier League, Preseason

Here’s our fantasy premier league transfers article where we analyse some of the potential real life football transfers we maybe do or don’t want to happen. Transfers from one team to another, now that prices are set in FPL, can be a way of creating and ruining unexpected value.

fantasy premier league transfers – which real life transfers will benefit FPL managers?

Here we go through some real life potential transfers and their affect in our FPL team in no particular order.  We start with a yes or no as to whether they will benefit FPL managers or not.  Italics for a couple of changes since I wrote this morning

Yes – CB John Stones from Everton to Man City

A £5.0m def to Man City? Yes please. Would he start? Probably not with Kompany and Otamendi fit. However that’s certainly doesn’t include GW1 and if last season is anything to go by a decent percentage of this season. Would he start ahead of Mangala? I think probably given Peps long winded statements the other day about building from the back. Mangala can barely trap a ball let alone pass it and if there’s one thing Stones can do is pass. His defending maybe suspect but his passing isn’t.

No – CB Mustafi to Arsenal

With Mertesacker out for months £5.0m Gabriel is a certainty to start with Koscielny when he’s fit. While he may not win any mild mannered contests Arsenal should still bring in the clean sheets. Should the German Valencia stopper come to Arsenal he won’t have an FPL price anything like Gabriels.  It will be far higher. Hopefully the eye watering £42m release clause will mean the Arsenal board will go for Chambers, Monreal and the new boy as cover instead.

Yes – CF Benteke from Liverpool to C Palace

While it’s possible £6.0m Wickham could come right for Palace Benteke could again find his feet at a team with wingers and good set piece delivery . True £7.5m is a little pricey for a Palace striker but it’s not so long ago he scored 19 goals and 4 assists in 34 games for Villa.

No – any striker to Swansea and yes CF Gomis to Marseille

Swansea have a good couple of early fixtures against Burnley and Hull and with £7.5m  Ayew looking like he will start as a striker then anything to rock that boat isn’t helpful.  There is a theory that conversely it wont be beneficial for Gomis to go as that will force Swansea to buy someone else who should be a specialist striker to threaten Ayew.  I believe Gomis is now done

no – any LB to West Ham

With first choice LB CresSwell injured for a number of months £4.5m Sam Byram played LB in the Europa League tie yesterday. That’s good value for a West Ham defender. Hard to see this not being rectified,  although Bilic has allowed the RB situation to drift continuing to play Antonio rather than a specialist. While Antonio is great going forward was caught out again last night out of position.

Yes – Mahrez to Arsenal

I’m looking at this in the reverse way round. I’m not intending to buy Mahrez at £9.5m but if his ownership soars (25% at the moment) as I write this I may get him to nullify the ownership risk if it gets significantly higher given his season last year.  Not something I’d really want to do. Going to Arsenal I feel will dilute his returns given how they have a far greater spread of talent. Even if he does take off, £9.5m for an attacking midfielder in an attacking team like Arsenal is a much better option than in a Leicester team with questionable prospects this year who are based mainly on counter attack.

No – GK Guzan to Middlesboro

Personally my Middlesboro defender of choice is LB Friend however if you’re thinking GK Valdes this potential may cause some doubt? Luckily we have an excellent Boro fan regularly commenting who will hopefully comment here

??-Pogba to Man Utd

Hard to avoid this topic. I thought he had a pretty ordinary Euros but to make an assessment needs more words on position and his role at Man Utd. So a park for the moment. I believe this is now done

Hope you found that useful and any others or comments are welcome.
