fantasy premier league transfers – the movements in the transfer window to mess your FPL team up

Fantasy Premier League

If you’re banking on either Giroud or Walcott playing up front for Arsenal then the possibility of Benzema joining in the coming weeks isn’t exactly helpful.  At the moment this transfer seems unlikely with Wenger saying it’s all paper talk.  However it illustrates with over 3 weeks to go to the transfer window closes on September 1st that there are situations which could seriously disrupt our FPL teams.   Add to the fact that alot of us will be trying to save transfers in order to get Aguero in with minimum point hits meaning the last thing we need is someone in our FPL team disappering to Spain or replaced by someone from the French league.  In this article we go through a few of the scenarios so you can at least consider it in your thinking

fantasy premier league transfers – the movements in the transfer window to mess your FPL team up

As I said above there are 2 scenarios to consider.  Firstly a player in your FPL team being transferred out of the premier league or secondly a players first team status being lost for a transfer in to replace him.  Obviously there are always rumours about everyone and many come to nothing but the information may sway you in making a decision in a marginal choice situation.  By the way they aren’t in any particular oder and aren’t meant to be every possible transfer possibility.

Pedro to Man Utd

Being going on for a while and the reason appears to be Man Utd’s reluctance to meet the £23m buy out clause due to the fact that the Barcelona striker/winger is 28 and with little resale value.  At the minimum it would mean the bench for Ashley Young,  new contract or not.  The other issue could be that it moves Depay from being a support striker effectively to a winger and far less effective.

De Bruyne to Man City

The heat came back into the situation with the creative midfielder (who is a £40m big prospect) De Bruyne refusing to say that he will start the season with Wolfsburg.  Thinking of getting Man City midfield coverage with Nasri at £7.0m instead of forking out £9.0m or £10.5m for Sterling and Silva respectively.  This may change your mind.

GK David Marshall to WBA

WBA don’t have a guaranteed starting defender/GK for £4.5m.   Myhill gives that £4.5m option even if he will probably be replaced by Foster when he comes back in October.  However it does give a good period with cheap coverage of the WBA Pulis infused defence.  The potential purchase of Marshall ruins that. Even if Marshall comes in at £4.5m then having 2 £4.5m GKs from the same team makes no sense.  Marshall was fantastic in the PL for Cardiff and must be a real threat to Myhill.  The only positive is that Marshall is banned for the first 3 weeks of the season which at least gives some breathing space.  It’s making me seriously rethink Myhill as my GK option

Fwd Raul Jiminez  to West Ham

The Mexican International wasn’t exactly a roaring success at Atletico with 1 goal and 2 assists in 600 minutes last season.  However it’s looking more and more like a done deal.  With 2 great home games in GW2 and GW3 to Leicester and Bournemouth respectively Sakho at £6.5m is a popular pick.  With Valencia and Carroll out of the way in the short term with injury,  Sakho has a free run at the forward position.  At the moment it looks more than likely that Bilic wants to play with 2 strikers so it shouldn’t affect his place but any change to a lone striker puts his place at risk.

Fwd Glen Murray to Bournemouth

I have to say that if I scored a goal or assist every 72 minutes like Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray did last season and then saw a new striker coming through the door every couple of days I would be tempted to want a move away.  Callum Wilson is a popular cheapie forward for £5.5m at Bournemouth.  Manager Eddie Howe seems to want to play a lone forward in either 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1.  Given Murrays form this would be a serious challenge to Wilsons place.  The bid at the moment seems a pretty paltry £3m so we live in hope that it won’t happen.

Any striker to Norwich

Thinking of playing with the £5.0m Norwich forward Jerome as your striker then think again.   Manager Alex Neil looked like a starving man who knows his fridge is empty when talking about the need for an “additional” striker.  They’ve been linked with anyone from Fabio Borini to Dynamo Kiev striker Dieumerci Mbokani.  If you think that Norwich are going to spend the season with a striker leading the line who’s averaged 3 goals a season in his last 4 years in the premier league then maybe you’re going to be in for a big surprise. If you’re lucky you’ll get the early good fixtures to GW4 and then use your wildcard

Lennon to Aston Villa

Sherwood has offered for the Spurs right winger.  If you’re mad enough to be thinking of Bacuna as an out of position FPL £5.0m defender playing as a right midfielder then it’s time to start thinking again.   £5.0m cheapie mid Sinclair who’s more likely to play on the left should be unaffected.

Gokhan Inler to Leicester

The experienced Swiss International is being linked with Leicester,  Already new signing N’Golo Kante has put uncertainty over £4.5m CMs King and Drinkwater but Inler would probably totally rule them out as a viable £4.5m FPL midfielder.
