Hindsight. Oh what a wonderful thing! Well, its fair to say my wildcard was not a raving success however it has set me up well moving forward.

Here’s how the Wildcard team performed:

GW8 Points:  50  (average 41)  Total Points:  474  Overall Rank:  113k  green arrow: 19k  Team value £101.9m

Lets start with the negatives:

-One Man City attacker! Seven goals and some scintillating football. Granted Sterling was the pick of the forwards to own but it would have been nice to have a second.

-Illness and deflections! Davies missing (another) clean sheet due to illness. He missed the champions league game so this is a situation to monitor. Mr Stones came into my team and, despite playing well, conceded two deflected goals. He looked excellent against Roma so i’m happy with him for now.

-The forwards. 3 player; 8 points (including my captain!). Not great returns. Im disappointed as I’d planned to sell Lukaku for Jesus on WC but bottled it. Lets hope he pays us owners back against Huddersfield. Kane again blanked at home although managed 3 shots on target. As for Vardy, he didn’t even manage a shot against West Brom!

-Now the big differential; Hazard! Oh dear. No shots against Palace and little involvement! Although he was the furthest forward of all the Chelsea players according to his average positioning map. Hazard was also my Eriksen replacement so a double whammy!

Now on to the positive news:

-England’s number 1 Joe Hart! A later arrival into my WC team due to his price fall. So close to a clean sheet but his assist and max bonus points meant a 9 point haul. His price of 4.4mil also gave me the 0.1 to for Kiko instead of Wimmer which I’m pleased about with Watfords fixtures about to improve.

-Mr Sterling. Well, I didn’t think he would bring in 15 points but I am certainly not complaining!

-Richarlison. 6 mil and since I’ve owned him he has brought in; 7, 10 and 5 points. Very pleasing especially as he was the furthest forward on Watfords average position map. He also got off 3 shots although none on target.

-Depth of my squad. Whilst a number of my big guns failed to fire this week, I am pleased to have no non-playing players in my squad. Coming into the December/January periods where games come thick and fast, having depth will be important.

So where to from here? Well, Its fair to say my score of 50 was a little underwhelming but the foundations are there. My plan is to roll my transfer this week but with an eye to a few drastic moves next week depending on how some of my big hitters do (namely; Lukaku, Hazard and Vardy!) They could be exiting with Morata, Salah and Aguero coming in. If more news on Davies comes out and it looks like he may not start, I will sell as the fixtures stiffen, I don’t want to lose the profit I have in him and Rose played in the Champions League putting his place under threat in the coming weeks.

Onto my team this week:

Hart keeps his place in goal against a lacklustre Brighton.

Stones and Davies will start all games they are fit for in my defence. Naughton at home to Leicester looks a fine fixture. However, playing against my striker Vardy is not ideal.

My midfield looks good on paper; Hazard against Watford, Richarlison against a Kante-less Chelsea, Choupo-Moting home to Bournemouth and the inform Sterling home to Burnley.

Up front, Lukaku has a good fixture against Huddersfield and you would hope Jose won’t park 3 double decker buses again! Vardy under a new manager will hopefully aim to impress. Kane can score against anyone, just not sure if he can do it at home!

As for captain, its currently on Sterling but this may move to Lukaku.

I hope you all had a good game week and those on wildcard got a points total you are happy with. Good luck this week!
