Well after a pretty poor day and having seen Defoe and Mahrez score from my “imaginary” wildcard article I decided to not make the same mistake I made last week and activated my wildcard. Here’s the team and some brief notes

So after a fairly poor day I decided to activate my wildcard and not repeat the mistake of not doing it last week. Here’s the team and some quick notes. The main point to note is that the team isn’t going to be how it looks at the end of the week but it’s there as a structure and to capture a few price rises which I monitor through www.fplstatistics.co.uk. Apologies for doing it so late but been a lot of cogitating during the day.

I’ll just brielfly run through the selections
I’ve kept Myhill in the team even though it will require a change when Foster is back in October. The transfer window ends on the 1st of September which is pretty annoying as my Wildcard will end on the 29th August. There is still a chance that WBA will buy someone first which could change my plans. McCarthy has the Palace GK spot for the moment and although Speroni may get it back it’s worth the gamble as the only £4.0m GK who’s playing
I don’t really want to keep Targett as he will lose his spot after the international break but he has some price rise potential. Kompany is the City defence coverage. The most expensive but the only secure gametime defender. I might take a view on Kolarov or even Sagna at cheaper prices but Kompany again is due a price rise.
I’m also gambling on Gomez holding his place. Definitely worth it for the price. At the moment Man Utd look reasonably solid. I’ve gone for Darmian although a downgrade to save money to Shaw isn’t out of the question. Richards is just a filler and could be anyone at the end of the week.
Mahrez is owned by everyone so even if I’m way too late it’s too risky not to own. Redmond won’t stay in my team he’s just a cheap price rise coming up as a placeholder. Silva I’ve gone for as the best City midfielder and Sanchez for Arsenal. Should need no discussion. I took Westwood over Surman as my £4.5m mid as he has more points potential with some set piece responsibility.
Aguero needs no discussion. Wilson after today’s hat trick also needs no introduction and hopefully has enough potential to free up funds for elsewhere. Gomis I’ve gone for after 3 goals in a row and he’s bound to rise during the week.
