Here’s our regular fantasy premier league wildcard tips article where we pretend we have a wildcard to use. The idea being that it gives player picks with more longevity than just the next gameweek.
FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE WILDCARD TIPS – OUR IMAGINARY WILDCARD FOR GW25
CONTEXT
You’ve probably seen this a load of times but just remember the GW26 and GW28 situation
Postponed in GW26
Southampton v Arsenal
Man City v Man Utd
These are related to the clubs that are in the EFL final and will have their fixtures postponed.
Those certain of fixtures in GW28
Bournemouth v West Ham
Everton v WBA
Hull v Swansea
These are the fixtures where both clubs are out of the FA Cup and therefore their fixtures should stand in GW28 while others could potentially be postponed depending on 5th round results which are after GW25. Every other team has the potential to have a bye in GW28.
I’ve identified these players in the narrative
THE IMAGINARY WILDCARD TEAM
Firstly this article is for illustrative purposes only . I personally intend to use my wildcard for the double gameweeks resulting from the postponements in DGW26 and DGW28. Here’s a link to a recent article on my thoughts as to when to use the 2nd wildcard and chips
No stats you can get these in my player rankings articles below:
So this time I made sure the team strictly fitted into my own pathetic value of £101.8m so it’s very achievable but there are a number of sacrifices to do it. It’s also done with an eye towards GW26 and GW28. It also has enough versatility to be more than just 3-4-3. Indeed given the midfield sacrifices made that maybe a necessity
Just a general word again though I plan to Wildcard for the double game weeks up coming. This is just for illustration.
GW26 and GW28
The team fits within £101.8m but it as I said it really takes some sacrifices to do it.
For GW26 it’s 1 player short with Ibrahimovic, Jesus, Sanchez and Yoshida without fixtures so one would need to be transferred out to get a full team out.
For GW28 there are currently 9 players with fixtures for the minimum 3 fixtures. Those are Jakupovic, Robertson, Coleman, Brunt, Sigurdsson, Snodgrass, Barkley, Carroll and Lukaku. With 4 transfers before GW28 the team is well placed and also can change if teams are knocked out of GW28 and suddenly have a fixture in GW28.
TEAM SELECTION
Gk
Jakupovic is great value and has a fixture in GW26 and GW28 and is in an improving Hull defence. Mannone was my last player to fit into the team and is related to budgetary restrictions
Defence
Alonso is a season keeper due to the Chelsea defence and his attacking positioning and stats. Coleman and Brunt are great attacking options with fixtures in GW26 and GW28. Robertson is a cheap GW28 option. Yoshida is cheap although Southampton look shaky at the moment.
Midfield
Sigurdsson is in great form and an essential GW26 and GW28 player and home to Leicester is a good time to introduce him. I’m planning on holding Sanchez at the moment so he will be on the bench for 2 weeks. Certainly you’d want him for home to Hull this weekend. Carroll is the bench playing 5th midfielder. Barkley and Snodgrass are good relatively cheap both with some set piece responsibility and fixtures in GW26 and GW28
Forwards
No need to justify much here. Ibrahimovic home to Watford you’d want him for this fixture even if you later want to transfer him out for 2 potential blanks. Jesus is in the same place but his fixtures away to Sunderland and Bournemouth are just too good to miss. Lukaku is essential given he has games in both GW26 and GW28.
Hope that gives you some food for thought
