Here’s our fantasy premier league wildcard tips article which I’ve written as you may have noticed that the 2nd wildcard is now available.  Before you jump to use it week 1 you may want to read my thoughts on it’s useage.  Unfortunately the permutations aren’t easy to put in writing so I hope what I’ve written is clear

This will be best done in a table to illustrate the points but I can sum up what I’m going to show you in a couple of paragraphs. I plan to use the wildcard in conjunction with the up coming double gameweeks ie gameweeks where some teams play twice.  Double gameweeks will occur because of FA Cup and Cap 1 Cup games clashes with the premier league schedule causing postponements into other gameweeks. They also occur less frequently for weather disruption.  As UEFA don’t allow domestic games to clash with European competitions those premier league postponements only have limited options where they can go.  Ill give you the detail below but it looks like GW34 and GW37 will be the main double gameweeks with GW34 the primary one.  My plan at the moment is to use my wildcard in GW33 and then bench boost in GW34 (you can’t use them both in the same gameweek) and then use the triple captain in GW37 .  There will also be a number of teams n0t playing in GW30 and similarly but less so in GW27 and GW35 as I’ll also explain below

Ok thats the summary.  Hope it was reasonably clear.  Here’s a detailed table below showing the remaining gameweeks and how the European and domestic cups dovetail/clash with the premier league.  That illustrates how the double gameweeks and postponements will come about.  In essence it shows you that after GW29 the only time to postpone games is GW34 and GW37 as the rest are full with UCL games and 1 International break.  If the games are level with the gameweek it shows a clash leading to postponements and blanks.  If they are in between it’s games play between the gameweeks.  I hope it’s clear.  It’s reasonable tricky to explain clearly and the graphic could be clearer.

What is clear though is that with the extra chips there is the potential of a multitude of points to be gained through some careful planning.  I maybe a conservative FPL player but I go all out in DGWs

If you weren’t aware the Cap 1 semis will be Everton v Man City and Stoke v Liverpool

Double gameweeks and blank gameweeks

Double GW25  It’s possible the Cap 1 finalists will have their GW27 games brought forward to this.  We would know the identity after GW23 to prepare.  Could be a target for a triple captain or the AOA chip

Blank GW27  A gameweek which will clash with the Cap 1 finalists and their GW27 opponents meaaing those teams will not feature in the gameweek. Again we will know from GW23 the teams to prepare for this

Blank GW30  A gameweek which will clash with the FA Cup quarters so a number of teams won’t be playing plus their opponents for the gameweek.  You’ll know after GW27 who these teams will be so will have 3 gameweeks to prepare

Double GW34 should  be a double gameweek with postponed games from the FA Cup quarters although they could try and put some into GW28 but it looks too tight.  The plan at the moment is to be wildcarding in GW33 to set up for a bench boost in GW34.  This could also be a DGW for the Cap 1 finalists but they may also play the postponed games in GW25 to set up a small DGW then

Blank GW35 the gameweek will clash with the FA Cup semis so again the teams involved and their opponents.  Careful planning will be required to minimise the damage that this could cause

Double GW37 should be a double gameweek with teams from the postponed games that clashed with the FA Cup semis.  Could be a target for the triple captain chip

This is just an early warning.  I’ll keep you updated as things go.  If anyone thinks I’ve got the worng end of the stick somewhere please tell me.
