fantasy premier league wildcard tips – the FFGeek imaginary wildcard GW16

Here’s the team firstly:

fpl..gw16imagWC3

GK  De Gea Man Utd 9 clean sheets in 15 games 10 goals conceded.  FPL point every  19.0 mins

Man Utd have pretty much their whole back 4 injured and while they have some excellent defensive fixtures it’s unclear how defensively strong in the short term they will be.  However GK is a position to be filled for the long term which is why I’ve stuck with him.

Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)
Stoke (A)
Chelsea (H)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)

GK Hennesey C Palace 3 clean sheets in 15 games 15 goals conceded.  FPL point every 27.0 mins

A great £4.0m GK back up

Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Swansea (H)
Chelsea (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Def Nyom (0 goal 0 assists) Watford 6 clean sheets in 15 games 16 goals conceded.  FPL point every  24.6 mins

Watford seem to be the best defence in the £4.5mish price range and Nyom seems secure in his place and around the same price as everyone else in the back 4.  The fixtures are tough but it is a mainly bench warming role

Sunderland (A)
Liverpool (H)
Chelsea (A)
Spurs (H)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)

Walker Def Spurs  (1 goal 0 assists)  5 clean sheets in 15 games 12 goals conceded.  FPL point every 26.2 mins

The Spurs defence has been unlucky given their underlying stats and now with the fixtures improving the prospects for clean sheets are enhanced.  Walker is the cheapest but still has little gametime risk and attacking potential.  If you’re swimming in cash though Alderweireld is the pick.

Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Def Moreno (0 goals 1 assist) Liverpool 5 clean sheets in 15 games 17 goals conceded.  FPL point every  25.3 mins

Has great attacking potential and good value for the Liverpool defence

West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Ham (A)
Arsenal (H)

Def  Kolarov (2 goal 1 assists) Man City 7 clean sheets in 15 games 16 goals conceded.  FPL point every 17.4 mins

Man City haven’t kept a clean sheet without Kompany in the team but there’s alot of long term potential in the City defence especially once Kompany returns.  Kolarov has good attacking potential.

Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (A)
Everton (H)

Def Bellerin (0 goal 2 assists) Arsenal 6 clean sheets in 15 games 13 goals conceded.  FPL point every  20.2 mins

Arsenal rank in my teams with the best defences.  Mertesacker is the cheap option but Bellerin offers more attacking potential

Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

Mahrez  (  FPL point every 9.5 minutes 10 goals 6 assists. 10 returns either goal or assist/14 games  71% consistency return rate)

Has absolutely everything.  Phenomenal minutes per FPL point, consistency and his underlying stats back this up as no fluke.  The only thing against him is the fixtures and they are pretty grim.  Interestingly he’s scored against Spurs but blanked against Arsenal and Man Utd.  Still after last week’s hat trick and with his ownership being virtually every active FPL manager it’s a brave man who will ditch him

Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)
Liverpool (A)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Spurs (A)

Alli  (FPL point every 17.2 minutes 3 goals 3 assists. 5 returns either goal or assist/13 games  38% consistency return rate)

It’s not often you get a £5.0m midfielder playing in the number 10 role for a top 4 challenging team.  However thats what you get with Delle Alli.  Hasn’t always played in that position so the returns are lower than they should be.  Due to age and the number of attacking midfielders may not be that gametime secure but given the fixtures and his current position it may not be that bad a risk.

Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Ozil  (  FPL point every 12.8 minutes 1 goals 11 assists. 9 returns either goal or assist/12 games  75% consistency return rate)

Mr Consistency is still going strong and it’s either a goal or assist in his last 9 games.  The Arsenal CAM is the leading assister and chance creater.  The only negative is a lack of shooting stats.

Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

De Bruyne  (  FPL point every 12.9 minutes 4 goals 6 assists. 6 returns either goal or assist/11 games  55% consistency return rate)

Been very consistent and great returns plus a real 90 minute player in a team where it’s easy to be subbed.  Good creating chances stats but little in the way of shooting stats.  Thats showed in 1 goal in the last 8 after 3 goals in consecutive games.

Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (A)
Everton (H)

Walcott (  FPL point every 15.1 minutes 2 goals 2 assists. 3 returns either goal or assist/9 games  33% consistency return rate)

Every team should have at least 1 punt and my decision was between Walcott and Ramsey.  Although a punt is abit disrespectful for a player who’s consistently performed in the premier league.  Ramsey probably has less gametime and 90 minute risk but Walcott is probably the most explosive.  The risk is around gametime.  Walcott should play given the injury issues to the attacking midfielders at the moment. It’s whether it’s too early and the minutes too low to gamble.

Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

Kane (  FPL point every 18,9 minutes 8 goals 0 assists. 5 returns either goal or assist/15 games  33% consistency return rate)

After 7 goals in 4 games its 2 blanks.  A slow start makes the stats look pretty ordinary.  However the underlying shooting and creating chance stats have been good the whole time and now the fixtures are good.  It’s fixtures, underlying stats and last years success against some mixed stats.  Newcastle at home is a good time to buy.  Will be a big captain favourite.

Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Vardy (  FPL point every 12.2 minutes 7 goals 1 assists. 4 returns either goal or assist/9 games  44% consistency return rate)

Scored in 11 games in a row.  Arsenal 2 goals. Man Utd 1 goal, Spurs an assist.  Tough fixtures no problem.  Great actual and underlying stats.  Hard to say enough good things.  It’s just the fixtures

Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)
Liverpool (A)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Spurs (A)

Lukaku (  FPL point every 13.1 minutes 11 goals 4 assists. 9 returns either goal or assist/15 games  60% consistency return rate)

The one player who has everything, FPL points per minute, consistency, underlying stats and fixtures.  Also owned by every man and his dog who hasn’t abandoned his FPL team

Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)
Spurs (H)
Man City (A)
