fantasy premier league wildcard tips – our GW11 imaginary one

Here’s the team:

fpl..gw11imagWC

GK Hennesey C Palace 2 clean sheets in 10 games 11 goals conceded.  FPL point every 25.7 mins

He’s the only GK in FPL at around  £4.0m who has any hope of starting.  He’s  started the last 4 for Palace and is the natural reserve GK for your FPL team even if there is competition for his place

Man Utd (H)
Liverpool (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (H)
Everton (A)
Southampton (H)

GK Begovic Chelsea 2 clean sheets in 10 games 19 goals conceded.  FPL point every 27.8 mins

The reserve keeper in for Courtios’ long term injury.  The hoped for defensive improvement has still yet to show itself but Begovic remains a good price to gamble on last seasons best defence getting back to the expected level.

Liverpool (H)
Stoke (A)
Norwich (H)
Spurs (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Leicester (A)

Def Koscielny (1 goal 0 assists) Arsenal 5 clean sheets in 10 games 8 goals conceded.  FPL point every 20.0 mins

Any of Bellerin, Monreal or Koscielny are good picks for the Arsenal defence.  I’ve gone for Koscielny due to his impiortance to the team although like Man City the squad is big so there’s a underlying rotation risk for everyone.  Showed his attacking qualities wth a goal against Everton in GW10

Swansea (A)
Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Def Kolarov (1 goal 0 assists) Man City 6 clean sheets in 10 games 8 goals conceded.  FPL point every 14.9 mins

Man City finally got back to clean sheets against Man Utd after 4 games without one.  Difficult to pick anyone with secure gametime due to the large squad.  Kolarov though has the attacking potential to give him the edge.  Also the injury to Clichy may help although he is expected to be fit soon.  It also seems though that Zabaleta has a knee injury which at the moment has no return date.  This could give some potential for security to £5.4m RB Sagna

Norwich (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)

Def Moreno (0 goals 1 assist) Liverpool 4 clean sheets in 10 games 11 goals conceded.  FPL point every 22.2 mins

With Gomez out for the season Moreno becomes the first choice LB at a good price for a Liverpool defender at £4.7m.  Also has good attacking potential

Chelsea (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)

Def  Jones (1 goal 0 assists) Sunderland 1 clean sheets in 10 games 19 goals conceded.  FPL point every 39.2 mins

A gamble solely on Big Sam’s ability to turn round the defensive aspects of the team.  It is a gamble as until the sending off they looked a complete shower against Newcastle.  Has some gametime risk though as playing LB even though right footed and Van Aaholt is at the club but dropped.  However that is a similar position for all the defensive players

Everton (A)
Southampton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)
Watford (H)

Def Nyom (0 goal 0 assists) Watford 4 clean sheets in 10 games 10 goals conceded.  FPL point every 23.4 mins

Watford showed their defensive strength in the win over Stoke.  The same number of clean sheets as Spurs and Liverpool shows how well they’ve performed this season.  Nyom has the best bonus potential although he is partial to a YC or 2.

West Ham (H)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Norwich (H)
Sunderland (A)

Mahrez  (  FPL point every 9.8 minutes 5 goals 5 assists. 7 returns either goal or assist/9 games  78% consistency return rate)

Returned to the team after a couple of games on the bench and kept up his fantastic start to the season with an assist.  Great underlying stats and within a team that has to attack given their lack of defensive resolve.  Fixtures are on the turn for the worst though which is the watchout.  If you bought him at £5.5m he’s also a reasonably priced 5th midfielder

West Brom (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)

Payet (  FPL point every 12.6 minutes 5 goals 4 assists. 8 returns either goal or assist/10 games  80% consistency return rate)

Another midfielder who’s been fantastically consistent.  He’s the attacking hub of the West Ham team.  The watchout though is the fixtures which are mixed and the lack of shooting stats both of which could limit returns in the future.

Watford (A)
Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)

Mane  (  FPL point every 15.1 minutes 3 goals 5 assists. 5 returns either goal or assist/10 games  50% consistency return rate)

Great fixtures and shooting stats plus a very advanced midfield position are the attraction for the Southampton midfielder.  Seems to have gotten over being a sub or an early substitution as well.

Bournemouth (H)
Sunderland (A)
Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

De Bruyne  (  FPL point every 11.3 minutes 3 goals 3 assists. 4 returns either goal or assist/6 games  67% consistency return rate)

Great start to the season for the former Wolfsburg assist king.  The injury to Silva though hasn’t seen the central position hoped for and definitely not as effective out of the flank.  Also has reasonable underlying creating chances stats but little in the way of shooting stats.  However 2 fantastic fixtures coming up and has shown fantastic form to date.

Norwich (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)

Sanchez (  FPL point every 11.9 minutes 6 goals 1 assist. 4 returns either goal or assist/10 games  40% consistency return rate)

Proven FPL player but one who can be explosive rather than consistent as this and last season showed.  The best underlying shooting stats of any midfielder.

Swansea (A)
Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Lukaku (  FPL point every 16.8 minutes 5 goals 2 assists. 4 returns either goal or assist/10 games  40% consistency return rate)

Has done well this season considering the tough fixtures faced and now Everton go on a very kind schedule.  Ok underlying stats if not outstanding but again has to be seen in the context of those fixtures

Sunderland (H)
West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)

Vardy (  FPL point every 12.7 minutes 10 goals 1 assists. 9 returns either goal or assist/10 games  90% consistency return rate)

Just keeps scoring and has great underlying stats to prove this is no fluke.  Fixtures are mixed going forward though

West Brom (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)

Bony (  FPL point every 13.4 minutes 2 goals 2 assists. 2 returns either goal or assist/8 games  25% consistency return rate)

Has started as a striker in Aguero’s injury absence.  That may give him a short shelf life but I would certainly have him in a wildcard team if I were able to sort out the rest of my team.  Good underlying shooting stats and a proven goal scorer with Swansea and Vitesse.  The low consistency rate is due to the number of sub appearances.

Norwich (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
