FPL best midfielders above £7.5m – player rankings GW12
First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Mins per FPL Pt. The amount of minutes a player takes to earn an FPL point. The shorter and obviously lower the number is the better

The Schedule
Salah
The Liverpool RW has been in sensational form with 7 goals and 3 assists in his 10 starts plus 1 sub appearance. He’s also returned a goal or assist in 7 of those 10 starts which is great consistency.
His underlying stats match that consistency and he’s turned up a good goal threat numbers in a high percentage of matches.
Plays in an advanced position on the right and lethal on the counter as we saw at West Ham. I have read some views that he will be affected by Mane’s possible absence but he has scored in 3 of the 4 games Mane has been out.

Firstly it’s important to say that he is an injury doubt for the weekend so this is on the basis that he gets the all clear in the press conference on Friday.
7 goals and 3 assists in 6 starts plus 3 sub appearances is nothing short of sensational. He’s also only not returned in 2 of those games. 1 being the win at Chelsea and the other his 12 minutes at Brighton in GW1.
His underlying stats are fantastic although a couple of games he’s been quiet but hard to grumble on his form so far.
He’s also nailed the ability to find the right time to tap the ball in to the net from the 6 yard box from his left or right sided virtual forward role
Like any of Pep’s players will be rotated as Pep looks like he wants to win everything

Sane
Playing on the left side as a virtual forward Sane has been in fantastic form since the start of the season backed up by very good overall underlying stats making him a goal and assist threat. That’s shown in his 6 goals and 5 assists in his 7 starts plus 4 sub appearances.
Interestingly he has blanked in 3 of the 7 starts and can have the odd quiet game. However, in each of the 4 returning games he’s got double figure FPL point hauls.
Has started the last 6 PL games although inconceivable that he won’t be rotated to some degree like everyone else.

Coutinho
When everyone’s fit I imagine Coutinho will play on the left of a midfield 3 in 4-3-3. With either Salah, Mane or Firmino out he could play in the front 3. It appears Mane has seen a recurrence of his hamstring injury which may mean he plays in the front 3 in GW12.
Instinctively that’s where you think you want him to be although it’s hard to provide evidence that he is better there.
What we do know is that he has good returns to date although only returning a goal or assist in 2 of the 5 games played to date. Both of those ended up as double figure FPL point hauls including 3 bonus points. He will also have primary set piece responsibility.
Probably the most concerning though is that his underlying stats are terrible and way below previous seasons. On the positive side though he has shown the ability to over perform them in the past.

De Bruyne
2 goals and 6 assists in his 11 starts returning in 5 games and playing 90 minutes is reasonably good going. Whether it’s £10.1m good going is another thing. Especially when you’ve got someone in your team in Silva who’s £1.6m cheaper, not that far behind return wise, has played more minutes and has better underlying stats.

Alli
Alli is an injury doubt but expected to play.
After the Arsenal game it’s a fairly good run of fixtures for Spurs and Alli playing as a virtual striker should be a big attraction. 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 games isn’t the end of the world but 3 returning games in the last 7 is not what you want for the money.
His underlying stats though aren’t bad and not that different than his 18 goal and 7 assist season last. The difference is the last 2 seasons he’s over performed his underlying stats, so far this season he’s under performing them.
The fixtures after the Arsenal game give him the chance to put this right

A Sanchez
1 goal and 3 assists in 6 starts plus 2 sub appearances at an FPL point every 18 minutes are not Sanchez stats. It’s nice he’s added assists and creating chances to his repertoire but what has happened to the goal threat. Also blanking twice after posting 12 points doesn’t help.
Sanchez does out perform his underlying stats but he somehow needs to increase his goal threat to justify anything like the price he’s got

It’s hard to see anything apart from the last 6 games being blanks and an average of 62 minutes played as he becomes Mourinho’s favourite sub target. And when you do look harder you see that the underlying stats show that this bad run of form is not bad luck it’s bad form.
However if you’re ever going to redeem your self it’s in these next 3 fixtures and that’s the only thing keeping him on the list

Hazard
Another very expensive player in the Sanchez underperforming club with 1 goal and 1 assist in 5 starts and 3 sub appearances. However Sanchez at least has some underlying stats going his way. Hazard’s are quite frankly terrible. His goal threat numbers for a guy playing virtually as a strike partner to Morata are very poor.
However the fixtures really are excellent from GW14 and a chance to show the true Hazard

David Silva
David Silva has returned well with 1 goal and 7 assists and in a couple of the recent games he’s significantly upped his goal threat which is what holds his returns back.
He now has good overall stats and has started every match with 9 90 minute games. He surely will face some rotation though at some stage as Pep goes to win all competitions.
