Here’s some early FFGeek team thoughts in this FPL gameweek 15 article. We look at gameweek 14, some issues facing the team, transfer thoughts and early captain thinking
FPL GAMEWEEK 15 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAM
GW14 PERFORMANCE

Here’s the team points:
Again bit ridiculous doing an “early” thoughts article when the gameweek opens in a couple of days but a good chance to order my thoughts and maybe help anyone else’s cogitations
So on the day of the gameweek you can see from my team article on Tuesday I had 3 options in my mind, Mustafi or Christensen or the -4 pointer to Hazard with Lukaku out. Whether you get these decisions right shapes your final score and the Hazard choice was a negative. At least I didn’t choose one of Morata or Hazard as my captain to make it worse.
I generally try and make transfers to build my team in all areas rather than just move between premium players for fixture shifts and I paid the price this time for doing just that. Still as the saying goes “a transfer isn’t just for the next gameweek” so hopefully something comes off from it.
As an extra kick in the teeth on my transfer choice the defence was a huge failing with 5 points between 4 players. At one stage I was celebrating at the prospect of an Otamendi goal and a potential clean sheet which turned out to be neither.
Surprisingly, everyone except the GKs played, albeit 2 off the bench. Salah obviously came off the bench impressively and Sterling kept his great run up. Pep just makes me laugh. You cannot predict the guy. Who would have thought he would play 2 strikers and start Sterling?
Overall very disappointed though as this is the 3rd time I’ve got into the top 100k and moved backwards out of it the next gameweek. I’m still behind my GW1 score which is inexcusable.
I’ve stayed the same position of 5th in the FFGeek contributors league. However I moved back in the alternate teams league to 3rd as the expected goals team and the shots in the box team had great weeks. Apologies for not doing those articles last 2 gameweeks but there will be one this week without fail
ISSUES WITH THE TEAM
Just the 1 transfer this week and a number of issues to sort out over the coming weeks
The GKs
With Elliot dropped I now need to urgently replace him unless Benitez says it was just rotation and he will start again in GW15. I can either replace him where my only options are Grant, Hart or Foster. Or I can replace Elliot where my options are Ryan, Gomes or Begovic. My inclination at the moment is to replace Elliot with Ryan but it needs further thought
Davies
He should play this week so he can be put on the back burner.
Jones
Again with Man Utd at Arsenal his fitness isn’t really a huge problem for me. It just becomes an FPL team bench availability issue. Will someone put a time frame on it so I know how to prioritise it?? In the Man Utd team he’s exceptional value
No Richarlison
With Spurs next and then Burnley away that buys me some time. GW17 away to Palace is the fixture to aim for
POTENTIAL TRANSFERS
The first priority is to get a GK. So that is likely to be my transfer. If Benitez says Elliot’s going to play I still may use a transfer on Krul believe it or not but it sounds a bit frivolous with the other issues and will require further thinking. It’s also dependent on any Jones news that Man Utd feel they can be bothered telling us.
TEAM LINEUP BEFORE TRANSFERS
Here’s how the team will look like before any transfers
Assume the GK position is resolved. So actually the lineup doesn’t look to bad. Pretty good fixtures all round.
Morata and Sterling look rotation possibilities and Niasse has to convince big Sam to start him after a 4-0 win so 3 absentees potentially with 2 players to come off my bench. That could be worse as presumably 1 of Morata or Sterling should come on as sub. Davies should play with Rose playing this week.
CAPTAIN THOUGHTS
Not sure yet. I’m tempted to go for Kane again but that’s an unanalysed view. Either him or Salah or Hazard. Morata has to be a rotation risk this week. Captain poll will go up soon.
