FPL gameweek 36 wildcard tips – the FFGeek imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our FPL gameweek 36 wildcard tips article where we pretend we are using our wildcard.  The article gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek.

FPL GAMEWEEK 36 WILDCARD TIPS – THE FFGEEK IMAGINARY WILDCARD

This article brings together the various earlier articles in the week.

The FFGeek contributors this week also did an imaginary wildcard article

The below article is short and there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats for the GW36 players you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.

There’s also our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures. You can also see who the popular transfers are in our bandwagons article

THE IMAGINARY WC TEAM

Remember if you’re wildcarding this week you can’t use another chip.  The article is mainly to assist in player selection and not as a real life wildcard as it is over budget at around £106m

Here’s the team:

FPL gameweek 36 wildcard tips

Goalkeepers

The goal keepers pick themselves in my view.  De Gea is the safest selection choice for Man Utd and Fabianki’s save point potential works well for Swansea

Defenders

Vertonghen with Spurs fixtures was my first choice defender.  I went for Laporte as a roll of the dice for someone who could be given gametime for experience.

The rest were relatively easy cheap picks with the better fixtures in Chilwell, Dummett and probably the most tricky in Cedric

Midfield

I stuck with Salah who I think can score goals against anybody, his old team Chelsea included, plus a final game against Brighton.  It’s impossible to predict what Klopp is going to do over the last 3 games so I’m not planning on trying.  In the race for the top 4, Liverpool are 8 points ahead of Chelsea in 5th on 71 points with 3 games to go.   Chelsea have a game in hand including 1 against Liverpool.  The maximum Chelsea can get to is 75 points.  That means Liverpool need 4 points (much better goal difference) out of the 2 other games if you assume Chelsea beat Liverpool.  That means risking dropping points against Stoke would not be helpful.

I’ve gone for Sterling again erring on the side of caution.  Pep has given no indication that he will be doing multiple restings in the games so Sterlings scoring potential could outweigh any lost minutes or games.  If I were to go for the AM I think will play the most minutes that would be Bernardo.

Arnautovic playing as a striker is a good option at the price.  I’ve also gone for Lingard who is a huge minutes and rotation risk but is a great option when on the pitch.  For the price I’ll take the gametime limitations.  The safer gametime choice would have been Tadic who was Joe’s guest pick in the Rob’s player picks

Lastly there’s Kenedy who is a good cheap option with a double gameweek

Forwards

This is where the bulk of my cash went almost unavoidably.  Aubameyang is the only Arsenal player you would bet on having a chance of playing all the fixtures to the end of the season with his ineligibility for the Europa League.

Harry Kane will be a big captain and triple captain favourite for DGW37.  Add that to his ability to score big and even if you question his fitness and form he’s a difficult player to leave out.

Jesus is the most secure player for Man City with Aguero’s injury possibly being season ending

No Chelsea

A difficult one.  Until they are mathematically out of the top 4 I expect them to be striving to win every game with a full team.  If that becomes mathematically impossible they may rest rotate some players with the FA Cup final in mind.  However it was difficult to fit someone in.  Hazard I guess could be a gamble over Salah.  Willian is also a player with good stats who you could gamble gametime wise on.  Alonso is banned this week but back for the double.  He is a painful player not to have in your team
