FPL team tips GW5 – FFGeek contributors show their GW5 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Scott Hargadon

Scott finished with an OR of 70k and 21k OR in 16/17.

You can see Scott’s imaginary wildcard article with this link

GW4 points: 53 (average 44) Total points 295, Gameweek rank 1,277k, Overall Rank: 14k, green arrow 1k, Team Value: £101.8m

Not much to say that I did not say in my article last week. If Walcott remains injured I will start Cedric which is also a good option this week with Southampton hosting BHA. He cost me 12 points when I left him on the bench last game week! I took a -4 this week to do BSilva and Luiz to Alonso and Maddison.

Prakhar Patel

Prakhar finished in 17th overall in fantasy premier league last season.  An amazing achievement

GW4 points: 53 (average 44) Total points 295, Gameweek rank 1,277k, Overall Rank: 14k, green arrow 1k, Team Value: £101.8m

After a lot of thinking,I’ve decided to keep hold of the wildcard for this GW. I am fairly satisfied with the current lineup except Mkhitaryan which I want to get rid of but the priority is Walcott so Maddison comes in.He’s looked sharp and Leicester’s fixtures are great so he’s the ideal replacement. Not owning Alonso is a scary task but I don’t think one GW is going to affect the damage already done.Captaincy is the easiest this week as Fulham have conceded most shots on target and Man City have had most so aguero it is for me.That’s it.

Best of luck everyone and may your arrows be green!!

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an OR of 12k last season and 21k in 16/17

GW4 points: 43 (average 44) Total points 267, Gameweek rank 3,026k, Overall Rank: 143k, red arrow 58k, Team Value: £101.7m

Another poor week for me on GW4 with 43 points for a 3 million GW rank and big red arrow to 143K OR. Only Mane, Robertson, Shaw and Aguero returned from my starting eleven. With the international break it was time for a brief check of the team performance so far. Overall I am happy with the result given the quite a few poor personnel choices I made. On the positives are the selection of Mane over Sanchez, Richarlison (even with his red card), good defence returns, and all of it without hits taken.

Also I went with the most backed captain each week (Salah/Aguero/Salah/Aguero) and they all returned which is great. However on the dark side was starting with Mahrez, who made me miss on Mendy, present on most of my preseason drafts. Another negative is not having been able to bring Alonso into the team yet, when he’s been almost ever present in my team the last two seasons. Finally, my forwards other than Aguero have only totalled a goal between both, as opposed to most other choices I considered in the bracket, who have returned well: Wilson, Zaha, Mitrovic, Ings and Arnautovic

Going into GW5 I moved early with my free transfer to upgrade the non-playing Peltier to Doherty of Wolves before price drop for Peltier. Wolves look solid at the back and their coming home matches look great: Burnley, Southampton and Watford, plus Doherty position as wingback might bring the odd attacking return too. Then the lineup for this week looks shaky: triple Liverpool at Spurs is a tough fixture, plus 3 players on Mkhitaryan, Walcott and Austin who might not start or even play.

The bench should at least provide 1-2 pointers if needed. So I’ve spent the international break thinking were to take a hit or two, but I can’t see any clear move that aligns with my plan in the coming weeks. So most likely I will stick with the team as it is this week. Captain Kun, no question about it.

Good luck for GW5 Geekers !

Yaniv finished with an 8k OR last season

GW4 points: 57 (average 44) Total points 300, Gameweek rank 773k, Overall Rank: 8k, green arrow 5k, Team Value: £101.9m

Hi guys, so now it’s 3 green arrows in a row, OR of 8k and temporary 1st place in our FFG Contributors league with nice TV of 102.0 and even 2 FT this week.

GW4 was an OK week with 7 returns from 11.  While my double up in the City defence didn’t pay-off yet again, it was Mane (already 8 bonus points!) and Mitrovic (amazing start 4 from 4 and player of the month for me) again who saved the week.   Maddison also got a surprising assist (although that ruined the CS for TAA) but he did look good although the tough game.   Luiz and Shaw with Clean sheets,  2 bonus points for Luiz who decreased the pain from not having Alonso.  Captain Kun returned a late assist and 1 point bonus although he should have scored a brace in my view..

As for this GW, as you can see from the picture of my squad it doesn’t look so good, 4 flags , and maybe only Zaha will play (although I decided not to use yet my WC, when 2 subs can fix most of the problem, and with the rest of my team doing OK).   Shaw and Tomkins have the lowest chance to play so I will concentrate in 2 subs in defence, but till now I really don’t know what to do yet (1st time in this season). I have 3 options in my mind, I will love to get your help choosing one of them via the poll below or get another idea in the comments section.  Here’s the options:

1. Bellerin and AWB for Shaw and Tomkins

2. Pereira and Doherty for Shaw and Tomkins

3. Alonso, AWB and Bennett for Luiz, Shaw and Tomkins (-4 while I am not a big fan of hits)

Line up – it will be the 2 defenders in for Mitrovic (who plays the toughest game against my Ederson and Mendy) and TAA who has hard fixture as well.   I hope that Zaha and Walcott will play, if only one of them will play it will be first TAA and then Mitrovic if none will play.

Capitan – It’s Kun again with not even a small dilemma! (sorry Mo..)

Good luck to you all again and waiting for your help by voting in the poll below

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW4 points: 65 (average 44) Total points 258, Gameweek rank 208k, Overall Rank: 254k, green arrow 399k, Team Value: £101.5m

No transfers this week as i am carrying my free transfer for next week. Probably going for 3 next week with a 4 point hit. I have also noticed in past seasons that there is some rotation after an international break.

Shaw on the bench and bissaka starts. Captaincy is definetely on Aguero as his % owned and good form gives me no other choice!

Good luck geeks!
