FPL TEAMS GW20 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

GW19 Review

A satisfying week to end the first half of the season, culminating in my best weekly point score so far. I’d gone into the week expecting a bit of pain so a chunky green arrow was certainly a nice surprise.

The points were spread throughout the side this time with 6/11 returns. Courtois and Otamendi both kept clean sheets though recent signings Jones and Ogbonna could only muster a solitary point each.

There were double figure returns in midfield from Salah and Sterling with Loftus-Cheek adding a handy assist. Sir Harold of Kane then completed my haul with a clinical hat-trick. I even had the luxury of leaving a Kenny clean sheet on the bench!

It’s been a frustrating first half of the season for Chaos Theory and I think it says a lot that it’s taken until GW19 to muster a haul of over 80 points in a gameweek. This is the main reason I’m not ranked 100k places higher.

I’ve only had 1 really bad week (sub 3 million GW rank) but I’ve not had any really outstanding ones. Hopefully my team can ride the back of this 81 point haul and pick up some form, especially with a Double Gameweek on the horizon.

It’s all about planning for Double GW22 now for me. Anyone who’s followed my playing style over the last couple of seasons knows that I like to chase Double Gameweeks. It doesn’t always work out, especially if there’s only 2 teams on a double but it can be highly profitable if well planned. So I’m hoping for a couple of steady weeks where I can hold rank and minimise damage before going big in GW22. Fingers crossed!

I hold 2 DGW players at present, Kane and Ogbonna and I won’t be buying any more before as it will leave me without a bench in GW21. I only have Simpson injured at the moment and he would be benched this week anyway so I plan to roll my transfer and sell him next week while carrying the other transfer into GW22.

This gives me the flexibility to deal with any other potential bigger injuries before GW21 if needed and if ok, gives me 2fts for GW22 where I plan to bring in a further 2 Spurs players. One of these is likely to be Lloris for Courtois, I’m unsure on the other though. Eriksen, Alli and Son are on my watchlist at present, with Hazard the likely transfer out.

So to this week. It’s a fairly easy selection, the only dilemma is Kenny or Ogbonna. I’ve gone for Kenny on the basis of recent form. Captain this week is a tough one though.

Last week showed what a difference getting your captain pick correct can make. If you backed Salah, Sterling, Kane or Aguero you were quids in; but trust me we’re not always blessed with such a captaincy cornucopia!

4 standout options for me this week. Salah vs Swansea, Morata/Hazard vs Brighton and Kane vs Southampton. Salah is the safe pick with his high ownership. A rested Morata also looks a great choice at home to The Seagulls. I dont think you can go wrong with either.

But you just can’t overlook Sir Harold. He’s going for the goals in a calendar year record, it’s a game primed for him; not to mention he’s coming off the back of a fantastic GW19. He’s my captain for GW20.

Good luck everyone for this week. I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas with family and friends and hopefully Santa has brought us all a nice green arrow this week!

GW19 review

It’s fair to say that the last gameweek before Christmas was quite the rollercoaster for my team. As stated in last week’s article, I was waiting for confirmation from Guardiola about David Silva that never came; had he declared his availability then I would have transferred him in alongside Austin for Morata and Loftus-Cheek. A blank for Silva followed while Austin picked up an injury and Loftus-Cheek returned an assist which meant I was grateful to not make the transfers as I now have a rested Morata waiting to come back into my team. The only transfer I made was Christensen in for the dropped Kolasinac which gained me a clean sheet.

Elsewhere, there were big hauls for Salah and Sterling, but the main story of my gameweek was the captaincy. I had always planned to place the armband on the City man, but I was in for a shock on Saturday morning when I looked at my team. I’m still unsure as to how this happened, but the armband had found itself on Kane! A hat-trick and 17-point haul later and I was feeling extremely lucky, though still slightly confused. After all my troubles with the captaincy this year, my biggest return came by a complete accident! In the end, I scored 87 points which meant a healthy green arrow and good start to the Christmas period.

GW20 preview

Onto the Boxing Day gameweek, which is always a tricky one to plan for as there’s a quick turn around and, naturally, it’s a busy time for everyone! I still have 2 transfers to use, though I’m fairly happy with my team at this moment. The goalkeeper fixtures aren’t great this week, but it seems a waste of a useful transfer right now to use it on a keeper.

I would like to keep the two transfers so I can address any rotation from this week and also prepare for the blank week. My main concern right now looking at the next couple of fixtures is the lack of United defensive coverage. Ideally, I’d swap out the injured Kiko for Jones, who’s security of starts will surely increase if the injury to Smalling rules him out. Unfortunately, I’m 0.1 short of that so I think that I will take out Mee instead; Burnley fixtures are turning and I’m hoping Kiko will return to fitness soon.

Captaincy looks to be a straight shootout between Kane and Salah; if I could guarantee a start, then I would likely lean towards the Liverpool man. However, the fear of rotation means that I will stick with hero of GW19. He loves breaking records and hopefully, he’ll go past Shearer’s goals in calendar record against Southampton!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and best of luck this gameweek; may your arrows be green!

Overall not a bad showing despite the red arrow; with Morata and Ward not playing I had no subs. I also had a major amount of money sitting on the bench. Accordingly, I thought there was a possibility of a major red arrow.

This week I continue my team makeover. I was very disappointed in Sane who after two lively gameweeks, reverted to being in the channel next to the touchline and being out of the action in the penalty box. So in comes Coutinho again—he in contrast has been doing well. In the longer run, I have to decide if Robertson is worth keeping when Firmino is a legitimate second striker under 9.0.

My other transfer, which is in response to my continuing bad run of injuries, is Chris Smalling came up with a pulled groin—ironic because I chose him over Phil Jones due to my concerns about him being able to stay upright. So with United having another couple of good fixtures, I chose him over going to a West Ham or Everton cheapie (I will save that for Ward next week).

Captain choice will be Kane or Salah. Waiting until closer to the deadline on that one.

May Santa bring us all good scores.
