FPL TEAMS GW21 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

GW20 review

After the surprising season’s best weekly score of GW19, it was a big bonus to surpass that weekly score this week culminating in another nice green arrow. This takes my OR to the highest it’s been this season, which bodes well going into the New Year.

A fantastic 8/11 players returned in what was overall a very high scoring week all round. It was pleasing to see these returns spread throughout the team as well. 3/4 defenders returned clean sheets with an added 2 bonus points from Otamendi. In midfield, there were (inevitable?!) returns for Sterling and Salah as well as a handy assist for Richarlison. Up front, Morata bagged a goal on his return from suspension but the star of the show was of course Captain Harry Kane with his 34 return. If only this happened every week with the captaincy pick.

2 disappointments for me. Hazard has now only returned 1 assist in the last 4 games – at his price returns must be better and I’m likely to move him in GW22 for a Spurs or West Ham player thus freeing up funds to upgrade RLC to another of the above. Jones’ 1 point was the other let-down – the United defence has looked vulnerable especially to set-pieces of late. This is a situation that will need to be monitored.

GW21 Team

The gameweeks just don’t stop coming at this time of year and it’s another quick turnaround for this week. It’s a blank gameweek for Spurs and West Ham so Kane and Ogbonna will be sitting on the bench. There is also some worrying news about Kane possibly being ill, putting his participation in GW22’s first game versus Swansea in doubt – this would be a big blow. Hopefully he’ll be ok.

The priority this week is therefore dealing with any injuries so I have a chance of fielding 11 players this weekend. I have 2 free transfers and I plan to carry one into GW22 so I can bring in 2 DGW players without a hit. The injured Simpson will be the player to go, leaving me £4.8m to spend on a replacement. Not many options, I’ve narrowed it down to Robertson, Duffy/Dunk, Mee and Zanka at the moment – all have their pros and cons.

If his gametime was guaranteed, I’d go Robertson as he plays for a likely top 6 club and is great going forward but there is always the spectre of rotation with Klopp. The Brighton boys have good fixtures coming up but The Seagulls have been a bit leaky at the back of late. Burnley have certainly been over-performing in defence and carry higher ownership but have some tough fixtures on the horizon. Zanka has ok fixtures as well though Huddersfield have been inconsistent this season. I’ve opted to bring Duffy back in the end for his good fixtures. Hopefully he might pick up an attacking return on the way.

For captain, it’s Salah vs Morata for me. Both have nice fixtures and Salah’s ridiculous ownership makes him an attractive Shield pick. Morata however is up against a Stoke defence riddled with injuries and conceding goals at an alarming rate. He also bagged a hat-trick against them in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, so I’ve got the armband on him.

I’ll be honest, I’ll be happy with a small red arrow this week as my squad is lean with only 1 bench player. Hopefully though I’ll follow this up with a big DGW22 – fingers crossed. All the best for this week folks and a very Happy new Year to you all – hopefully the last GW of 2017 brings you joy and green arrows!

GW20 Summary

A second successive gameweek with an 85+ score thanks again to a hat-trick from captain Kane which gave me another decent green arrow. It was a very high-scoring week, as highly owned players performed well again; Salah, Sterling and Otamendi all bringing home more points for my team. Richarlison and Morata also picked up returns to vindicate my decision to keep them, though the striker continues to be outscored by the cheaper Firmino. The other success in the team was Kenny who came off my bench with a clean sheet and has proved fantastic value since I picked him up in GW17 for 4.3mil.

It wasn’t all good news as Hazard blanked again to make it just one assist in the last five games; with this form, he will likely be used to raise funds for double gameweek players next week. My transfer was Jones in for Mee which is a move that I slightly regret now; in hindsight, I could have bought in a cheaper defender (Robertson?) for the injured Kiko, but there will hopefully be some clean sheets for United looking at the next few games. Nonetheless, it was a successful gameweek for Dier-bolical XI and hopefully we can round out the year with another good score.

GW21 Team

Before explaining my thoughts for this week, I should inform you that I have already made the decision to keep Kane on my bench despite the blank. Using 2 transfers to move him out and back into the team means I’ll be looking for his replacement to score 10+ points and just seems an unnecessary risk. Therefore, I had two free transfers to use and an interesting predicament; absolutely no idea how to use them!

With the news that Christensen is back in training, my team looks in good shape for the weekend. Therefore, my plan had been to transfer out Fabianksi, whose form and fixtures are poor, for Adrian to give me another double gameweek player. Unfortunately, the revelation of an injury to Elliot has made that transfer unfeasible because it will leave me with no keeper this week.

Kiko has been ruled out again, so I decided to look to bring in a similarly priced defender (as I had no cash in the bank) in order to give me more players to cover the possible rotation for the likes of Calvert-Lewin, Sterling and Jones. I considered his teammate Zeegelaar, but I have decided to bring in Dunk who has some nice upcoming fixtures (7 of the next 8 look good) and has shown some decent attacking threat. He’s actually on my bench with Loftus-Cheek and it does feel weird to bench my transfer, but I imagine he will be required this week anyway.

Captaincy is fairly simple for me this week. Having climbed the rankings well over the past few weeks and with the double gameweek presenting a great opportunity to continue this, GW21 has the feel of a week where it is unnecessary to take any risks. Therefore, the armband will be on Salah, who will comfortably be the highest captained asset in the absence of Kane and a game against a leaky Leicester defence looks like a prime opportunity for yet another big haul. Chelsea may have the best fixture against a depleted Stoke side, but I feel owning Hazard and Morata is enough to help me climb the rankings and the Blues just haven’t been scoring that many goals lately. Hence, I will be taking the safe option and going for the Egyptian who will hopefully send me on my way to a big score!

Looking Ahead

It’s all about DGW22 and the headline news is that I will probably be placing the triple captain on Kane; I just can’t foresee a better opportunity arising later in the season. The news about his illness that came out on Friday does have me worried, but I’m hoping for some positive news over the weekend. I’ll have two free transfers and I will be looking to take a -4 to bring in Son and Arnautovic for Loftus-Cheek & Hazard as well as the delayed transfer of Adrian for Fabianski. Losing Hazard would be tricky, but he just isn’t good value in midfield right now and I would still have Morata in what would now be a 3-5-2 with Calvert-Lewin as my bench fodder.

I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the first double gameweek of the season, but there is still GW21 to get through to bring in 2018. Hope you all have a wonderful New Years, and may your arrows be green!

A pleasing week. Touching the top 10k at this stage of the season is not something I’m used to but I’ll happily take it!

With only Jones returning less than 3 points and my capo getting a hat trick it was a week where everything came together.

Having 2 free transfers is useful for the double game week so I’ll roll one this week and the other was used to move Kiko to Dunk. Brighton have nice fixtures and statistically look solid for their price.

The Elliott news is unlucky but with only 0.1 in the bank and no one I wanted for 4.1, it wasn’t worth using my 2 free transfers on it so will settle for a zero point keeper this week.

Salah captain as his early substitution means he likely starts.

Good luck everyone.

I was very pleased with my results last week given that Christensen did not play, and my two United players yielded a whopping 3 points. One of the big differentials last week was whether you were holding Alonso, Azpilicueta or the bed ridden Christensen. I had a good increase in rank despite taking a four point hit to replace Smalling. Harry Kane, I thank you—at least I got one key differential right.

This week is all about replacing injured players once again. Steven Ward apparently is still out for another few games so I replaced him with Dunk of Brighton Hove (4.5) in order to free up .2 and to make sure I have 11 players actually playing. Brighton’s fixtures look good and if they are to stay up, it will be their stinginess at the back which does it. By contrast, Everton’s fixtures for Kenny and Martina look very difficult. This is also the kind of small transfer I like to make which often gives a nice dividend over time—rather than flopping your main players to try to hit certain fixtures. ( I made than mistake with City hosting Bournemouth a couple GW’s ago). Given that for GW 22 I plan to bring in Son for Pogba, I may need the .2 from the sale of Ward to get the Son transfer done. I also plan on bringing in Adrian for Fabianski next week to free up more cash and try to take advantage of the Hammer’s good run of fixtures upcoming. I trust David Moyes more to sort his defense rather than the Hammers continuing a run of high scoring games.

Captain Choice: Given Stoke’s depleted defense, I am leaning Morata with Chelsea at home. I am worried about rotation of Salah and Coutinho more than Morata who has not played too many games this month. But if Salah is a runaway captain poll leader, I may go his way for defensive purposes given his astronomically high ownership.

Good luck everyone
