FPL TEAMS GW26 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

GW25

Well I won’t mince my words, GW25 was a disaster. I was fearful of this week, the reversal of the nightmare that was GW10 and so it proved to be the case. It could have been worse as well, thankfully captain Aguero salvaged things slightly with a late goal; otherwise it would have been my lowest weekly score this season.

Defence was a car crash this week. Chelsea’s capitulation to a modest Bournemouth team gave me 2 points from 2 players. This was written off by a bad day at the office for Phil Jones. 2 goals conceded, an own goal and a yellow card for good measure, a haul of -2. Duffy also blanked, leaving Otamendi as the only return at the back.

Things were a little better in midfield thanks to the reliable duo of Sterling and Salah, though there was yet another blank for Richarlison who is near the top of my ‘to go’ list and Albrighton added a yellow card to his blank for a solitary point. Kane was unlucky to blank up front (he can thank a greedy Son for this) but fortunately the aforementioned Aguero justified his transfer in.

A second red arrow in a row sadly, rubbed in by my transfer out Firmino securing a return as well. It’s been a painful last 2 GWs for Chaos Theory and my hopes of securing a high overall finish again will disappear if things don’t turn around soon.

GW26 Team

I’ve reverted back to 3 up front in a bid to reverse my fortunes this week transferring out the non-playing Calvert-Lewin. It’s a very limited choice of replacements in this price range and the standout for me is definitely Callum Wilson. He’s in great form and has some nice fixtures on the horizon. It’s Stoke at home first who have certainly toughened up under Paul Lambert but I think Wilson has a great chance of returning so he’s in. I want to try and shift Richarlison at some point, but doing so this week would have left me with 3 non-starters on the bench, so I prioritised these initially.

I plan to carry my transfer next week if I can to give me some flexibility in GW28. We’ll know the FA Cup quarter-final draw by then so it will give me the choice of whether to load up my team for the blank GW31 or whether to plan to play my Free Hit in that week. It’s looking very much like there may be only 3 or 4 fixtures maximum in GW31 so the Free Hit looks a great option here, however GW35 may also lose 4 fixtures if the big guns avoid each other in the quarters so the Free Hit could be an option there as well. We’ll see.

My selection this week is pretty easy. Kenny and Carroll aren’t guaranteed starters and Richarlison is playing Chelsea so they make up my bench. It’s double Chelsea at the back again so I hope they do better than they did this midweek. Similarly, I hope Jones has a better weekend than midweek and hopefully Brighton can toughen up again at the back giving Duffy a return. The template duo of Salah and Sterling start again, though my midfield looks weak beyond this with Albrighton taking the 3rd spot. Wilson goes straight in alongside big-hitters Aguero and Kane and it’s the Argentine who gets the armband this week.

Here’s hoping for a better score this week, fingers crossed. All the best everyone and may your arrows be green!

GW25 Summary

My GW25 story is best summarised by the events that unfolded during the last 5 minutes before the Tuesday deadline. After the increasing rumours regarding Mahrez and his absence from the Leicester squad, I decided that he needed to leave my team; even if it would cost me 4 points. Fortunately, my earlier transfer of Shaqiri in for Arnautovic meant that I had some cash in the bank, so upgrades were available to me.

I quickly realised that De Bruyne was affordable and frantic messages were sent out to FFG, FPL Vet and Alex Ball among others to seek approval on this move. There was enough positivity received for me to go with my gut and bring the Belgian in; after the transfer, I also made the decision to show some Spurs loyalty and bench Phil Jones for Dunk. A goal and assist from KDB later along with the own goal from Jones meant that I was 17 (-4) points better off and salvaged a small green arrow. Following the accidental Kane captain in GW19, I consider this my second massive slice of fortune, but I will happily take it.

I slightly dodged the Aguero bullet, though his late goal did rather hurt my rank as a non-owner. Those points were somewhat neutralised though by Salah scoring his late penalty with the armband; I think that I owe James Milner a beer for allowing the Egyptian to take it! After his miss earlier in the season as my captain in the reverse fixture, it was rather stressful watching him step up again, but fortunately he slotted it away.

Elsewhere, Otamendi picked up his first clean sheet in 4 games while Sterling returned another double-figure haul in their home game against West Brom. The rest of the team were disappointing, though I think Son and Kane were a little unlucky to blank against United; the latter had 8 shots at Wembley. In the end, I’m pretty satisfied with the results of GW25; a green arrow at this time of the season is always valuable, especially after a hit.

GW26 Team

Before revealing the details of my team for this week; I will quickly explain my thoughts regarding chips and the blank/double weeks as it will help with understanding my decisions. My current plan is to wildcard in GW32 after targeting players to play in BGW31, Bench Boost in DGW34 followed by the free hit in GW35. My thoughts are that given the kind FA cup draws for all of the big sides, there’s a good chance that some of them will make it to the semi final and blank in GW35. This could mean blanks for a fair amount of the players that we’d like in our teams for the double gameweeks in 34 and 37. Therefore I believe that I can wildcard in 32 and target the players from the top sides without worrying about the blank in GW35 as I will have the free hit to use.

The above thinking means that my transfers in the next few weeks will need to be influenced by the blank in GW31. In theory, I can wildcard immediately after the blank, so they won’t be in my team for too long. I should clarify that I haven’t 100% decided on this tactic yet so I would also like to save a transfer next week because I can then see the outcome from the FA cup and also the draw for the quarter final to help with my final decision.

All of the above should help to explain why I’ve made the transfers that I have this week. I think that Callum Wilson looks a great option to bring in with some great form and short-term fixtures; there is also a chance that he will play in GW31 if West Brom lose their FA cup tie against Southampton. He’ll be coming in for Calvert-Lewin who is out of favour now which meant I needed to raise some funds.
I had two options; take out Son for Walcott or remove Christensen for a cheaper defender. I elected to keep Son for three reasons; I thought he looked bright enough against United, after the Liverpool game there are some great fixtures for Spurs and club loyalty meant my heart ruled over my head. Moreover, Christensen has proved to be an FPL nightmare and frankly, the thought of him out of my team was a rather nice one. I have taken a bit of a risk with the defender that I brought in; I selected Robertson from Liverpool who I thought showed some good attacking threat in the Huddersfield game. Liverpool also don’t blank in GW31 and have some nice home fixtures until and including then, but I am worried about potential rotation.

Captaincy is very tricky this week with Salah and Kane facing each other at Anfield, though I do fancy that game to be high-scoring. Thus, the armband is currently on the Liverpool man, but it has been a while since I captained someone against Spurs. I’m hoping my logic of that I’ll be happy either way will stay true; either Spurs win and Salah blanks or Spurs lose and Salah bags some points. I’ve not ruled out switching elsewhere; Kane is an option as is the new boy, Wilson, with his home fixture against Stoke along with last week’s hero De Bruyne. It will be a late decision and I honestly have no idea where the armband will end up, but hopefully I get it right!

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

A disappointing couple of weeks where chasing points and not following my gut has cost me dear. Never mind a short turn around means not long to dwell on mistakes made.

No transfer this week as I eye up a move back to 3-4-3, possibly a very expensive frontline!

On paper my team looks in good shape (but it has for last couple of weeks and they’ve turned out terribly!). No real formation decisions either which is nice.

Captain is either Augero or Salah. At present Augero gets the nod as Burnley have conceded a few of late but Salah is in excellent form and with a home game.

Good luck all, sorry for the brief write up but my 1 year old daughter woke as I started to write and demanded attention!

Saving my transfer this week as I want have 2 FTs for next week, by when we should know which Jan. signings have settled in well. Risking Sanchez captaincy, could be a flop, but Mou said he played too deep vs Spurs. I think he’ll get his first goal(s) for ManU vs Hud. Good luck!
