FPL TEAMS GW29 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

GW28 Review

Another pretty awful week unfortunately. I wielded the axe at my team to try and cull out the deadwood but it hasn’t worked as of yet. A 45k drop in rank sees me drop outside the top 200k for the first time in the while and continues a disappointing run for Chaos Theory. I’m a little short of time again this week so I won’t do an in depth review and instead will move onwards to GW29.

GW29 Team

The good news is I have £7.1m in the bank so I can buy pretty much anyone with my free transfer. The bad news is I’m still hanging on to some out of form player, albeit stubbornly in preparation for BGW31. Richarlison, Wilson and Kenny are the players in question. I’m not 100% set on my decision this week but I’m either going to sell Carroll or Duffy with Spurs players high on the agenda. I’d ideally like to bring in a GW31 fixture player but there’s no-one who really appeals this week to be honest so rather than acquire another player who’s going to get me 4 points over the next 2 weeks I’d rather try and pick someone who’s going to net me some returns. It’ll either be Eriksen or Aurier I think – I’ll make up my mind on Saturday morning.

I’m leaning towards Kane as captain this week but it’s a straight shoot-out between him and Salah. Again I’ll make a final call on Saturday am depending on what the Captain Polls say. I hope you’re all managing with the freezing weather – good luck this week, here’s hoping for green arrows in these blue temperatures!

GW28 Summary

I always find prolonged gameweeks a little odd; it feels like we spent ages waiting for Thursday to come around for our rankings to be finalised. It felt even longer knowing that I had 9 points on my bench from Shaqiri waiting to come on if either the City game was postponed or if Sterling failed to make it onto the pitch. Fortunately for me, the latter situation occurred which provided a nice boost to my overall rank which gave me my 4th small green arrow in a row as I continue edging my way to the top 10k.

Captaining Salah in those weeks has massively helped out and his 3rd consecutive double figure haul meant it was another successful captaincy pick. His teammates, Robertson and Firmino, also chipped in with decent points during Liverpool’s 4-1 win over West Ham; it’s not an overstatement to say that 3 Liverpool players look essential for GW31.

Firmino was one of my transfers in and another transfer, Pritchard, registered an assist; it’s always nice when one of your punts pays off during the week you bring them in, especially for me when it’s an ex-Spurs player. Current star of the team I support, Kane, scored his usual goal, but the rest of my FPL team drew blanks with the biggest disappointment being the own goal from Dunk which also lost his clean sheet. Overall, it was a score of 63 (-4) which I was again reasonably satisfied with and hopefully this nice run of green arrows can continue.

GW29 Team

My aim is keep things ticking over for the next couple of gameweeks until the blank in GW31 with the high likelihood of the wildcard being played immediately after. I currently have 7 non-blankers in my team and I feel that I covered the obvious key players with three Liverpool players and Shaqiri. Therefore, I don’t see the need to necessarily bring another player from those teams with a fixture in GW31 as I would still have 2 free transfers to use which would bring me to an adequate total of 9.

The decision on who to transfer out has been determined mostly by injury with the issues being Jones and Sterling. It’s been confirmed that the United defender will be missing out, so he will have to be removed, but the situation is less clear with Sterling. It looks likely that he’ll be fit for the game against Chelsea, but there is chance that he wouldn’t make the starting XI even if he was ready to play.

Therefore, the choice is to replace Jones with a 5.6mil defender such as Keane/Baines at Everton or perhaps Mustafi (as you can see the options aren’t inspiring) or transfer in Arnautovic for Sterling which would give me the cash to bring in a Spurs defender. I’d prefer not to lose one of the stars of this FPL season, but it certainly does look a tempting proposition for the next three weeks. There’s no pressure from price changes this week so I won’t be making any decision until Saturday morning; I’d despise to bring someone in, only to find out that the game may be postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Captaincy is really tricky this week with the two obvious options, Kane and Salah, both having good fixtures. I think Spurs have the better fixture personally, but Liverpool have been very impressive in recent weeks with 11 goals in their last 4 league games. The safe play is to place the armband the armband on Salah, especially as Spurs face a much tougher midweek Champions League match against Juventus which could reduce Kane’s minutes. Nonetheless, I feel this is a good week to veer away from Salah with arguably the best striker in league facing a promoted side at home. Therefore, the armband is on Kane for now but that could all change come 11:30am on Saturday morning.

There will be some big decisions to be made then, but for now, best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

CESSPOOL AKA SCOTT HARGADON

I played my wild card last week and it yielded a 6000 increase in rank and broke my 8 week streak of red arrows. Even having played it early, I think I am in fine shape for GW31 where I think I can cover all the most likely point producers. I am thinking of playing free hit in GW34 to allow more transfers to be tailored to the DGW in 37 where I can play bench boost. Still planning on Triple Captain in GW38 as a final differential.

This week there is not much to do. I had gotten Deulofeu for Watford’s game against the Baggies this week and having a fixture in GW31. Now that he is injured beyond GW31, he had to go. Shaquiri was the best replacement at roughly the same price although I did consider Doucoure.

Its been an ugly few weeks for team ‘Whats the Lowe down?’. Five weeks ago is was 4K and now I’ve dropped to 24K. Now, I can feel the lack of sympathy around at being 24K (understandably as its still a rank im very happy with) but it has forced some soul searching as to why I have dropped so far, so quickly (relatively that is). The simple answer for me is removing form players for hits. Thats not to say the players I have brought in haven’t worked out but the points hits I’ve taken to bring them in has done the damage as the removed player would have done ok as well. That and a fairly big dose of bad luck on the 50/50 calls (but I had a decent amount of good luck at the start of the season so thats just a case of evening itself out).

On to my team for the week. I currently have 6 (plus Kenny)for GW31. Other than Shaq and a goalkeeper there is no-one i’m desperate for. Jones needs to go and there is certainly not a defender I want from a team playing in 31 this week (except maybe a punt on Coleman or Baines but there is no certainty they start this week) so I will likely go for a Spurs defender. Talking to resident Spurs expert Joe and Geek who has done a fair bit of research for his team Bavis is the man for anyone not overthinking it. For those overthinking (im looking at you Geek haha) Aurier maybe a slightly safer pick this week (as he is suspended in the CL) but both have rotation risk the week after. I’ll probably go Bavis.

Team selection comes down to Kenny v CM, CM will likely get the nod as Kenny may come on as a late sub if Coleman starts. Salah capo for me as I fear Kane may see reduced minutes with CL in mind.

Sorry write ups have been brief of late. Good luck everyone.
