FPL TEAMS GW33 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW US THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

You can also see an article where the FFGeek contributors talk about what to do with Kane

 GW32 Summary

The first gameweek after activating your wildcard is always an interesting one and it’s preferable to start with a green arrow. Fortunately, that was the case for me this week following a solid score of 68. The foundation of this result was a good captaincy pick where I decided to veer away from Salah and hand the armband to Aubameyang who bagged a brace. There were also some good returns from my United assets as the double-up on their defence paid off while Lukaku got his goal, though he probably should have had more.

The main disappointment was my benching decisions as the wonder goal from Barnes resided there alongside the 11-point haul from Chilwell. Nonetheless, I’m pretty happy with my wildcard team and I don’t have any regrets currently, though I am a little worried about my Chelsea players with their poor form.

GW33 Team

My satisfaction with the wildcard is demonstrated by the fact that I won’t be requiring any transfers this week. I had always intended to roll the transfer in order to have two free transfers to use before the double gameweek and I am glad to stick with that plan. The midweek injury to Salah presented the opportunity to make a move, an option I certainly flirted with, but I’ve decided to stick with rolling the transfer. In all honesty, the main reasoning behind keeping Salah is the lack of midfield options as I actually quite liked the idea of removing him for a few weeks!

The bench order has become more important this week and Barnes will be ready to step in for Salah if he is unable to make it onto the pitch for the Merseyside derby. It’s an adequate replacement, which is another reason for holding onto the Egyptian, and hopefully he can continue his scoring form. Lowton and Mariappa face each other and I have elected to start the latter with his side’s decent home form since the appointment for Javi Garcia. Smalling will take the third spot as I fear a backlash from City following the disappointing midweek result which will secure the league and is also the reason for starting Ryan over De Gea.

The captaincy decision has become rather easy now as the armband will be remaining on Aubameyang for his fixture at home against Southampton. Arsenal are starting to find some form again, as they typically do towards the end of the season, so hopefully their new star striker can find the back of the net again.

Holding the transfer this week will give me some flexibility going into the double gameweek and I’ll be keeping an eye on a few things with next week’s transfers in mind. The obvious one is Kane whose fitness I’ll be keenly watching with the decision to be made as to when to bring him in. The struggles for Chelsea are a worry as someone who owns Alonso and Willian so I’m looking to see if they can bounce back in a promising fixture against West Ham. In general though, I’m just hoping for another solid score which will keep me on track for a top 10k finish!

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

GW32 review

GW32 weekend came around in a flash after 2 weeks of Wildcard tinkering across the international break. I’m always a bit worried about the week after a Wildcard and I look at the results with a nervous eye when I wonder what might have happened with my old team, or if I’d made a couple of different decisions. In the end though I was happy with another green arrow, keeping up my recent good run.

The star of the show was Aubameyang and I’m cursing myself for not being slight braver and putting the armband on him (well done to my fellow contributors who did.) Thankfully Salah still popped up with his usual goal so at least there was a return for my captain. I was also very pleased with my defence – 3/4 clean sheets with only Lowton missing out, he was unlucky not to get an assist as well.

Midfield was a bit hit and miss. Son got an assist (he should have scored really) but there were blanks for Mahrez and Hazard. The latter I wasn’t too worried about and he has an easier fixture to put it right this week but the Algerian was a disappointment. Up front there was a handy 6 points from budget buy Barnes, but a blank from Firmino despite several attempts on goal.

I’m close to the top 100k now and I’m hoping I’ll break into it in the next 2 weeks. It might be a push to do it this week, but with my Bench Boost chip going into play next week, I’ll be looking for a hefty return. So how are things shaping up for GW33?

GW33 Team

The debate this week has been centred around Harry Kane and Mo Salah. My plan? Do absolutely nothing! Salah might start, Klopp was suitably evasive in his Presser. I’ll put him in my line-up, but he won’t be my captain choice now (as I had initially planned.) I’d like another week to sit and look at Harry Kane, but if he’s looking good I’ll be tweaking my GW34 plan to get him in, possibly instead of getting Vardy in and probably using a hit in midfield in the process.

For this week, I’m benching my United coverage for the trip to the Ethiad where they will no doubt face a backlash from The Citizens who will be keen to erase Wednesday’s UCL disaster from theirs and their fans’ minds. Stephens will also be benched for Southampton’s trip to Arsenal. Ibe will be my first sub and he has a nice fixture at home to Palace. He will be a decent replacement for Salah if the Egyptian doesn’t feature.

For my captain, it’s between Hazard and Aubameyang. I’m leaning towards the latter but I’d like to see the polls first. Hazard could be a great differential this week, but Aubameyang has been in good form – the same of which cannot be said for the Belgian in terms of his recent FPL returns. I’ll make a call on this on Saturday morning and post it on Twitter. I know I’ve said I’m targeting the top 100k by GW35, but to be honest I’ll be happy to tread water this week with the Salah injury complicating things and Kane coming back.

All the best for this week everyone – let’s hope it’s green arrows all round.

Team looking OK, so I’ll save my transfer. Looking to bring in Kane for Aubameyang in DGW34. Not yet sure whom to downgrade to get the 2.0-2.2m I’ll need for that move. Son and Mahrez looking like potential candidates for the chop to make way for Lingard, but to be honest I don’t fancy selling either. An injury would help.

For a moment I actually thought I’d sell Salah, but for now it looks like he’ll be fine after taking a break (or starting off the bench) against Everton, so I’ll keep him. He’ll race Kane for the golden boot, so it might be unwise to sell at the end of the season. Captain Aubameyang.
