Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our FPL tips GW3 article where the FFGeek contributors show us their team before the transfer deadline. Here’s part 1 with Rob, Joseph, Alex, Shayne, Keith, FPL word and Mikael L. Danielsen. All these FPL managers finished in at least the top 0.5% last season

FPL TIPS GW3 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS FOR GW3 – PART 1

Here’s the 2nd week of the series where 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories show their teams before the gameweek deadline. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may subsequently change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  There will also be times when people don’t produce their teams for whatever reason.

I’m still a little shaky on the formatting so if it doesn’t work out 100% forgive me

ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Rob finished with a rank of 22k last season 4,701 in 2015/16 and 7,810 in 2014/15.

GW2 46 points average 44.  116 total points  Overall Rank 1.012 million Team value £100.5m

GW2 was disappointing but could have been worse. Only 2/11 players gave returns, thankfully Eric Bailly’s 15 point haul managed to nudge me just above the weekly average with a score of 46. My overall rank is just under 1 million, a red arrow this week.Could have been better if I hadn’t benched Dawson’s 7 points. Moving forward, no need to press the panic button but some action and planning needed. I’ve got some players I’m concerned about. I’m still happy with my goalkeepers, even if Southampton let a lot of us down against West Ham. In defence, Monreal is my issue. He’s a premium price and giving me nothing at the moment. Dawson and Bailly are doing well and I’ve no plans to change Mee just now.

Midfield is my main overall problem at the moment – only 1 return out of 8 in 2 GWs from Willian in GW1. Stats aren’t necessarily that bad for some though. Willian hit the post against Spurs and still has some set-piece involvement. Ramsey was unlucky not to return last week and was very active in the box against Stoke. Atsu is more of a worry, though I think his lack of returns are more symptomatic of Newcastle’s general lack of attacking output. Carroll is a £4.5 bench filler with some ok fixtures coming so he’s not an issue for now. Kevin De Bruyne is my biggest concern after he effectively played as a holding player against Everton. At £10m this is a huge problem.

Up front, Lukaku returned again. Firmino blanked, but looked very dangerous in midweek in the UCL. Kane disappointingly blanked again, but his stats are fantastic so he’s not going anywhere. I resolved early on to make a transfer this week and it came down to Monreal or KDB to go. I am trying to chase Team Value early on this season, so the obvious move was to jump on the United midfield bandwagon. In the end I went for Mkhitaryan but I seriously considered Pogba. My team value at present is £100.5m.

Looking further forward, my main priorities are: midfield – Atsu to be sold if no returns; Willian possibly to be sold if loses his place when Hazard is back or blanks for a couple more weeks; Sanchez possibly to be brought in if he hits the ground running. Defence – sell Monreal if Arsenal fail to improve with Koscielny back. I still plan to hold my Wildcard until around GW7 or GW8 but I may have to use some point hits to tidy things up.

So here’s my team for this week:

2 selection dilemmas – Monreal or Mee and Atsu or Carroll. I’ve gone for Monreal and Atsu. I’m sitting on Lukaku for captain again, though I may swap to Kane based on what the Polls are saying. I think he has a great chance of breaking his August duck this weekend. Good luck everyone – hopefully things will be a better than last week!

JOSEPH CRILLEY

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 13k last season

I  line up with double Southampton defence again and I’m hoping that they can hold strong against an in-form Huddersfield. I am worried about Stephens future game time after their new signing but that’s an issue for further down the line. At least Forster is safe and will probably stay in my team until at least GW11. Alderweireld starts with a good home fixture against Burnley and Daniels is in ahead of Suttner due to his better attacking potential.

My hero of last week, Mooy, is there for his game against Southampton. De Bruyne remains as it looks a good fixture on paper and quality players like him don’t normally blank for 3 games in a row. It’s not ideal having Mooy and KDB lining up against my defenders but it’s one of those things. My transfer in this week is Pogba for Willian; I couldn’t resist adding a United midfielder any longer after their impressive form. Ward-Prowse remains after his benching last week but I’m not expecting too much from him. I may end up starting Carroll instead to avoid the dreaded 1 point cameo.

Surely Kane has got to score!? 14 shots with 11 inside the box suggests that’s the case. As such, he’s my captain. If I’m spending 12.5mil on player, I need to be captaining him at home to Burnley, otherwise he’s just not worth the price tag. Lukaku and Firmino both start in fixtures which look like they contain goals and hopefully they involve these two.

I’ve currently only made one transfer but there’s a chance that I make another. I’ve decided that I want to wildcard around GW6/7 where there’s a big shift in fixtures and we should have all the information required. Therefore my team planning is with that in mind. I want Sanchez next week; Bournemouth at home when there’s no other standout captain looks so good to me. I have the exact money to do KDB & Firmino to Sanchez & Chicarito but that will probably become impossible due to price changes over the next couple of days. Therefore, I’m tempted to transfer Daniels out for Hegazi to give me a little extra cash and bulk up my defence. I had originally planned to bring in Loftus-Cheek for JWP but his groin injury put a stop to that. I want Richarlison but he makes it tricky to get Sanchez next week.

For now, I’m going to leave my team as it is. I’d hate to make a transfer, only for Sanchez or Chicarito to pick up an injury. Hegazi for Daniels is my most likely transfer as it should improve my team over the next few weeks as well as giving me some extra cash.

ALEX BALL

Alex finished in 10k in 16/17 28k in 15/16 and 3k in 14/15

fpl tips GW3

Team for GW3:   a  -8 points hit.   Defence looks terrible this week; Suttner and Mbemba are in as the more favourable fixtures, Forster should do ok. Danilo should start with Walker’s suspension. Monreal and Ake have awful fixtures and even worse form! Moving on to the more exciting end of the pitch; Richarlison and Ericksen are on for KDB and JWP. Willian went for Mkhitaryan for the aforementioned -8. This gives me an attack I am very happy with for the next 4-6 weeks. I’m not normally a fan of -8’s but it sets me up well and means I don’t have to worry about price changes over the international break.  Kane is my captain, underlying stats suggest a haul is on the way. Hopefully this week! Good luck all.

SHAYNE ELLIS

Shayne finished with an overall rank of 8k last season

 GW2 53 points average 44.  134 total points  Overall Rank 267k Team value £100.3m

 FPLTIPS

With a score of 53, it was an ok week, luckily bailly saved me with his 15 points.
With the transfer out of chicharito, I was kicking my self with his 2 goal bonus point performance, so in a frustrated transfer I brought him back, in the end he is west ham focal point for their attack.
Lukaku at home is my captain choice, with Alli vice.

KEITH SPENCER

Keith finished with an incredible rank of 325 last season

GW2 29 points average 44.  114 total points  Overall Rank 1.104 million Team value £100.2m

Haven’t got the team so far from FPL word this week

MIKAEL L. DANIELSEN

Mikael finished 5,846 OR last season

GW2 34 points average 44.  109 total points  Overall Rank 1.441 million Team value £100.2m

fpl tips gw3

I took a hit this week.
After two consecutive blanks KDB is out. Even if he gets an assist/goal against BOU, it doesn’t justify his £10m price tag.
I have gone for David Silva for Man City cover

Stephens is out. I bought Alonso for the KDB money.
Southampton have signed centre-back Wesley Hoedt from Lazio. This cast doubt over Stephens (or Yoshida)

Alonso is due a price rise and KDB looks like he is dropping before deadline for GW3, so I had to make early transfers to afford my moves.

Rom is my captain

Thanks to all the contributors above and good luck.  Part 2 to come
