Euro 2016

Here’s an alternative team using some of the cash saved from defenders and some other players emerging from friendlies to slightly rebalance the team

McDonalds Euro 2016 fantasy football – an alternative team

Firstly here’s the team set for round 1.  Below I’ll talk through the changes:

So the main change is that I’ve used the cash to squeeze in Ronaldo who’s first fixture is home to Iceland in the opening game.

That has come through a number of changes I’ve been able to do through looking at the line ups in friendlies and the injuries that have occurred.

Firstly I’ve swapped Sagna for Rami ho looks like he will start rather than Mangala for the injured Varane.  The last defensive change as the Hungarian defender Guzmics in for the Swiss defender Djourou to save cash.

I’ve then put in Rudiger of Germany who looks like he will replace Hummels who’s out with an injury for 1 or 2 games.  That gives me 2 defenders from strong teams.

The other changes I’ve made have also been to free up some cash.  I’ve taken out the Austrian midfielder Junuzovic for the Swedish midfield Forsberg who scored against Wales in the friendly and has started the last 2 friendlies.  Lastly I’ve put in the very cheap midfielder Rafa Silva who started against England and is just there to generate funds

So is squeezing Ronaldo  and sacrificing the midfield and defensive rotation worth it?  He’s played alot of minutes this season and did fail badly at the World Cup and was poor in the Champions League final.  However he is a special player and Iceland is a good opponent.  That’s something to mull over and you’ll probably have your own view about it.  Hopefully you’ve got the stats and info to make that decision.  Ideally I wouldn’t have Forsberg or Alli.  I’d want to go for the likes of Perisic, Grosicki, Hamsik and Calhangolu who Ronaldo prevents from getting into the team.

Remember that we should see the French lineup before the deadline so that in itself may change things.  Certainly Payet is looking to push Martial and actually started in the last friendly while Martial was on the bench.

The friendlies finish on Wednesday with the last game involving Portugal.  I will then do an article trying to identify more potential cheapies in midfield and defence to help you generate funds.

Hope your team is going well.  By the way I’ve not forgotten about the Sun and the telegraph these articles will come.
