Here’s our McDonalds Euro 2016 fantasy article where we pretend we still have a wildcard to use. It’s just a way of giving you some player picks of various levels to fit into a team
McDonalds Euro 2016 fantasy – An imaginary wildcard team plus draft FFGeek transfers
Here’s the team with a little bit of narrative underneath:
Remember that you can do transfers up to kick off of the Portugal Wales game and after that it’s just a captain change and subs. Ignore Griezmann with the captain armband for this graphic. I would put Ronaldo for the first leg.
The first thing is that I’ve backed Portugal to win over Wales. That backfired on me severely against Belgium but I’ve stuck with it. I certainly wouldn’t criticise anyone who puts Bale in. I do wish Wales good luck having a few Welsh friends so it’s nothing personal just Fantasy Football!
That includes no Bale. Looking at the forward line. I’ve stuck with Ronaldo during the tournament, Griezmann is essential and then I went for Muller over Bale as I think the France/Germany game will involve more goals.
The rest of the team is fairly predictable. Draxler is a questionable gamble but a fairly cheap one. I think either him or Gotze will start but it’s hard not to back Draxler given he started successfully a couple of games ago and was the sub while Gotze hasn’t featured.
I didn’t put a France/German GK in. Not sure it would be worth the money given the clean sheet prospects for that game.
Draft transfers for the FFGeek team
Here’s the draft transfers for the FFGeek team. Ignore the bench and the captain changes. I won’t be making changes until the teams are announced and will probably only put them on twitter so follow me @fantasyfoot20 if you’re interested. Here’s the team with the transfers outlined below
Here’s the 6 transfers:
Def Meunier out Fonte in (subject to the lineup)
Def Umtiti out Rami in
Mid Hazard out Ozil in
Fwd Gomez out Muller in
Mid De Bruyne out Renato Sanches in (subject to the lineup)
GK Eduardo out Neur in
The main thing I need to debate is whether it’s worth the GK switch or should I go for Pogba over Matuidi. It’s possible Matuidi could be dropped for the return of Kante so to have Draxler and Matuidi as possible non starters doesn’t seem wise.
I’ve gone for Rami to come back into the team. Him being right footed will surely replace Umtiti which would result in 2 left footed CBs. Presumably Muller will play upfront rather than Gotze with Gomez injured.
Triple Portugal defence is the big gamble.
Hope you found that interesting. Remember that you can do transfers up to kick off of the Portugal Wales game and after that it’s just a captain change and subs. As I said above I won’t be making changes until the teams are announced and will probably only put them on twitter so follow me @fantasyfoot20 if you’re interested.
