McDonalds Euro fantasy football tips – transfer complete

Euro 2016

Well the transfer button did miraculously appear and it seems like we’ve got to 14.00 UK time to do our transfer or if you’re choosing to do so transfers or wildcard.  Remember you get 1 free transfer and there is a 4 point penalty for every transfer above that free one. Here’s an article to talk about the transfer I’ve completed and the thought process in doing it.  I’ll also show how the team line ups and have a quick word reviewing the first week

The transfer

So remember you have 1 transfer and then it’s a 4 point deduction for every transfer above that.  You also have the wildcard allowing you unlimited transfers up to the 14.00 UK time deadline to change your team.  I had no intention of doing that.  My first thought then was to check on any players in my fantasy team who I thought may not play in the 2nd round games.  There certainly wasn’t anyone obvious. So then I moved on to focus on the 2 Polish players in the team who are facing Germany.  The defender Glik and forward Lewandoski.  They seemed to have the hardest task of anyone.  Despite his blank I decided to keep faith with Lewandoski and went for the low key transfer to remove Glik.   The replacement scouting started with Ukraine who were playing Northern Ireland as there appeared to be a good clean sheet possibility there.  However their next game was against Poland.  So if I saved my wildcard (which you can use anytime) for the quarter finals the Polish defender would have a tricky game next up.  I then went for Italy who were so solid against Belgium.  The goalscorer Giaccherini who plays as a fairly attacking wing back is classified as a defender.  It was a straight money swap and that is what I ended up with

The team selection and captain

As you can substitute players who haven’t played for those who have I’ve lined my team up in order of playing in the 2nd round.  Players in the team playing the latest are on the bench.  Except Ronaldo.

As for the captain.  As you can change captain I’ve started with Giroud and will look to change from there on.  I did think about Payet who was so influential in the first game and has set pieces but Giroud looks a strong scoring case.   With Germany playing Poland though it makes things tricky leaving Ronaldo as the late option to change.

A quick review of the first Group round

Clean sheets and defensive resolve from the little fancied teams dominated the first round.  The big names of Muller, Lewandoski, Griezmann, Pogba and Ronaldo all blanked.  What few goals there were seem to come from defenders or unlikely scorers such as Modric and Schweinsteiger.

Certainly the substitutions helped keep the clean sheets ticking over with 4 out of 6 of my defensive players getting them but only 2 of my 8 attacking players getting returns.  Chasing more captain points from attacking players for those who had Giroud at the start would have been a difficult task.

However such is the short nature of the game that overall rankings can change quickly and like it or not luck over such a short period will play it’s part.

I’ll keep you up to date with changes to my team through substitutions but I will only show those on twitter so follow me @fantasyfoot20 or by clicking here

Good luck today
